From independent swab samples of the cloaca of indigenous gamecocks (CIG), anus of healthy baby goats (AHG), and vagina of goats (VG) originating from Phitsanulok, Thailand, a total of 263 isolates of lactic acid bacteria (LAB) were collected. Only three isolates, designated C707, G502, and V202, isolated from CIG, AHG, and VG, respectively, exhibited an excellent inhibitory zone diameter against foodborne pathogenic bacteria when evaluated by agar spot test. Isolates C707 and G502 were identified as , whereas V202 was identified as , based on 16S rRNA sequence analysis. When foodborne pathogenic bacteria were co-cultured with chosen LAB in mixed BHI-MRS broth at 39°C, their growth was suppressed. These LAB were found to be capable of surviving in simulated stomach conditions. Only the isolate G502 was able to survive in the conditions of simulated intestinal juice. This research suggests that selected LAB could be used as a food/feed supplement to reduce foodborne pathogenic bacteria and improve the safety of animal-based food or feed.

Campylobacter jejuni, a major cause of foodborne zoonotic infections worldwide, shows a paradoxical ability to survive despite its susceptibility to environmental and food-processing stressors. This resilience is likely due to the bacterium entering a viable but non-culturable state, often within biofilms, or even initiating biofilm formation as a survival strategy. This study presents an innovative application of NanoLuc bioluminescence to accurately monitor the development of C.

The prevalence of foodborne diseases has raised concerns due to the potential transmission of zoonotic bacterial pathogens through meat products. The objective of this study was to determine the occurrence and antimicrobial resistance (AMR) profiles of pathogenic bacteria in cooked donkey meat products from Beijing. Twenty-one cooked donkey meat samples were collected from different delis, subjected to homogenization, and analyzed for bacterial contamination.

serovar Infantis has emerged as a prevalent foodborne pathogen in poultry with significant global health implications. This study investigates the molecular characteristics influencing virulence in a Infantis rough variant collected from a poultry farm in the USA. In this study, whole genome sequencing and comparative genomics were performed on smooth and rough poultry Infantis isolates, while chicken embryo lethality assay was conducted to assess their virulence.

() is a significant concern, as it can cause severe infections and hemolytic trauma. Given its prevalence in seawater and coastal seafood, it poses a substantial risk as a foodborne pathogen. Biosensor-based detection technology has been continuously evolving, and toehold switches have emerged as a promising area within it, especially in the detection of RNA viruses.

The prevalence of foodborne diseases is continuously increasing, causing numerous hospitalizations and deaths, as well as money loss in the agri-food sector and food supply chain worldwide. The standard analyses currently used for bacteria detection have significant limitations with the most important being their long procedural time that can be crucial for foodborne outbreaks. In this study, a biosensor system able to perform robust and accurate detection of spp.
