An efficient, mild, and green method was developed for the synthesis of indeno[1,2-b]quinoxaline derivatives via o-phenylenediamine (OPD) and 2-indanone derivatives utilizing -cyclodextrin (-CD) as the supramolecular catalyst. The reaction can be carried out in water and in a solid state at room temperature. -CD can also catalyze the reaction of indan-1,2-dione with OPD with a high degree of efficiency. Compared to the reported methods, this procedure is milder, simpler, and less toxic, making it an eco-friendly alternative. In addition, the -CD can be recovered and reused without the loss of activity.

Desmosomes are adhesive cell contacts abundant in tissues exposed to mechanical strain, such as the stratified and simple epithelia of the epidermis and mucous membranes, as well as the myocardium. Besides their role in mechanical cell cohesion, desmosomes also modulate pathways important for tissue differentiation, wound healing and immune responses. Dysfunctional desmosomes, resulting from pathogenic variants in genes encoding desmosomal components, autoantibodies targeting desmosomal adhesion molecules or inflammation, cause the life-threatening diseases arrhythmogenic cardiomyopathy and pemphigus and contribute to the pathogenesis of inflammatory bowel diseases.

Background: Plant diseases cause huge losses in agriculture worldwide every year, but the prolonged use of current commercial fungicides has led to the development of resistance in plant pathogenic fungi. Therefore, there is an urgent need to develop new, efficient, and green fungicides.
Results: Twenty-three nootkatone-based thiazole-hydrazone compounds were designed, synthesized, and characterized by Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR), proton (H) nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), carbon-13 (C) NMR, and high-resolution mass spectrometry (HRMS).

Reproductive hormones associated with the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal (HPG) axis are closely linked to bone homeostasis. In this study, we demonstrate that Gonadotropin inhibitory hormone (GnIH, one of the key reproductive hormones upstream of the HPG axis) plays an indispensable role in regulating bone homeostasis and maintaining bone mass. We find that deficiency of GnIH or its receptor Gpr147 leads to a significant reduction in bone mineral density (BMD) in mice primarily by enhancement of osteoclast activation in vivo and in vitro.

Array-based analysis allows for precise disease diagnosis by simultaneously detecting multiple biomarkers. However, most array sensing platforms rely on non-covalent interactions between sensors and analytes, which limits their sensitivity. This study enhances the sensitivity of array analysis for thiol biomarkers by incorporating polyion complex micelles into the sensor array design.
