In Europe, plays a major role as a vector of sensu lato (s.l.) spirochaetes, the causative agents of Lyme borreliosis, among other pathogens. In unfed ticks, spirochaetes experience prolonged nutrient restriction. However, only few studies exist with regard to infections in unfed ticks of different physiological ages. Changing body dimensions of unfed ticks, due to the consumption of energy reserves, allow physiological age estimation. The present study investigated the relationship of morphometric age with prevalence and spirochaete load in 1882 questing nymphs, collected at two different locations in northern Germany in 2020. In addition, species composition was investigated by employing a reverse line blot (RLB) probe panel suitable for the detection of ten different s.l. species, as well as the relapsing-fever spirochaete . Overall, prevalence was 25.8% (485/1882). Whilst there was no statistically significant difference in prevalence between the different morphometric age groups, infection intensity as determined by probe-based quantitative real-time PCR significantly declined with increasing morphometric age. species differentiation by RLB was successful in 29.5% of positive ticks, and revealed as the dominating species (65.0% of the differentiated infections). Objective: This study examines how age at death, sex, and socio-historical context relate to the frequency, location, and severity of Schmorl's nodes.
Materials: The sample comprised thoracic and lumbar vertebrae of 192 skeletons from two contemporary documented osteological collections from Spain, in Valladolid and Granada, both of which contain individuals who died during the second half of the 20th century.
Methods: Schmorl's nodes were recorded on the superior and inferior surfaces of vertebral bodies and their location was categorized in one of three areas: center, canal, and periphery.

Purpose: Magnetization prepared rapid gradient echo (MPRAGE) is a useful three-dimensional (3D) T1-weighted sequence, but is not a priority in routine brain examinations. We hypothesized that converting 3D MRI localizer (AutoAlign Head) images to MPRAGE-like images with deep learning (DL) would be beneficial for diagnosing and researching dementia and neurodegenerative diseases.
