Parthenogenesis is not uncommon in thrips. This asexual reproduction produces males (arrhenotokous) or female (thelytokous). Only females are found in the onion thrips ( Lindeman 1889) infesting Welsh onion () in several areas of Korea. To determine the reproduction mode of . , thrips infesting Welsh onion were collected from different localities in Korea. Cytochrome oxidase I (COI) sequences were then assessed. Results showed that all test local populations had signature motif specific to a thelytokous type. These COI sequences were clustered with other thelytokous populations separated from arrhenotokous . populations. In a laboratory test, individual rearing produced female progeny without any males. These results support that Korean onion thrips infesting Welsh onion have the thelytokous type of parthenogenesis. Local thrips populations exhibited significant variations in susceptibility to chemical and biological insecticides. Random amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD) analysis indicated genetic variations of local populations. However, the genetic distance estimated from RAPD was independent of the actual distance among different local populations. These results suggest that genetic variations of . are arisen from population subdivision due to asexual thelytokous reproductive mode.

An entomopathogenic nematode, Oscheius tipulae, was isolated from a soil sample. The identification of this species was supported by morphological and molecular markers. The nematode isolate exhibited pathogenicity against different target insects including lepidopteran, coleopteran, and dipteran insects.

A fifteen-month-old Pembroke Welsh corgi with respiratory distress, exercise intolerance, and moderate regenerative anemia was referred to The Norwegian University of Life Sciences, Small Animal Hospital.Hematology revealed moderate regenerative anemia without evidence of hemolysis. Gastrointestinal nematodes (GINs) are a significant threat to the sustainability of global sheep production. Periparturient ewes play a key role in GIN epidemiology, with increased GIN faecal egg counts (FECs) in these ewes resulting in heavy pasture contamination that facilitates parasitic gastroenteritis in immunologically naïve lambs later during the grazing period. Traditionally, blanket anthelmintic treatment would suppress GIN egg outputs in these ewes and subsequent pasture contamination.
