Flexible sensing offers real-time force monitoring, presenting a versatile and effective solution for dexterous manipulation, healthcare, environmental exploration, and perception of physical properties. Nonetheless, a limitation of many existing flexible force sensors stems from their isotropic structure or material properties, preventing them from simultaneously detecting both the direction and magnitude of the applied force. Herein, a high-performance 3D force sensor based on orthogonal multimodal sensing, the cancellation principle, and the strain effect is proposed.

Protection provided by vibration-reducing gloves (VR) when used with impact tools can be considerably different from that measured following the ISO 10819 Standard. This paper investigates the transmissibility, at the palm level, of three different types of vibration-reducing gloves (air bubbles; gel; neoprene) and a working leather glove, while using 8 different models of electro-pneumatic hammers for chiseling rock in a limestone quarry plant. The capability to reduce the triaxial vibration as the average of all the tested hammers results limited: 12 % for both the gloves in gel and neoprene, and 7 % for the glove in air.

In order to master the strength and deformation characteristics, including the macro-micro failure mechanism of soft rock samples with penetrating joints under triaxial loading, a series of numerical triaxial tests have been carried out. The strength and deformation characteristics, failure modes, crack propagation, distribution of force chains, and the influences of joint dip angles and confining pressures have been analyzed and compared with the laboratory test results. The results show that (1) the residual strength ratio of jointed rock samples generally increases first and then decreases with the increase in joint dip angles under the same confining pressure and reaches the maximum value around 23-24°.

In this study, a newly developed small wireless bolus biosensor, equipped with a triaxial accelerometer and temperature sensors, was applied to assess physiological changes in calves. The biosensor was orally implanted in calves, and its retention rate and location in the forestomach were examined. Data transmitted at 10 min intervals were analyzed to determine the characteristics of the calves at 10 and 100 days of age.
