Purpose: Water Exchange Spectroscopy (WEX) is a direct measurement of the exchange rate k of labile protons from a solute to water in which the exchange time is varied. However the useful information can be masked by the T-decay of the solvent pool. We propose Saturation-WEX and Phase Sensitive WEX (PS-WEX) as an extension upon the WEX approach to reduce T-masking. Additionally PS-WEX takes advantage of the phase information contained in the WEX signal to improve the dynamic range.
Methods: By introducing an additional RF-pulse and fixing the exchange time delay the T-dependence of the signal is reduced. By exploiting the phase sensitivity of the WEX pathway the dynamic range can be increased. This approach is validated using simulations as well as phantom measurements.
Results: The improved dynamic range is demonstrated in measurements. The fixed exchange time reduces the influence of the T-decay on the signal curve leading to improved fit quality.
Conclusion: Sat-WEX and PS-WEX are an extension to the well established WEX approach with a less complex fit equation and in the case of PS-WEX improved dynamic range, allowing more accurate quantification.

This study investigated the regenerability of anion exchange resins for per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), focusing on the interaction between regenerant composition and resin characteristics. The influence of salt type and concentration on PFAS solubility revealed a general decline in perfluorohexane sulfonate (PFHxS) solubility with increased salt concentrations, most strongly with KCl followed by NaCl and NHCl. Mixed solubility results were observed for perfluorooctanoate (PFOA) and perfluorooctane sulfonate (PFOS).

Objectives: Caffeine, a known neurostimulant and adenosine antagonist, affects brain physiology by decreasing cerebral blood flow. It interacts with adenosine receptors to induce vasoconstriction, potentially disrupting brain homeostasis. However, the impact of caffeine on blood-brain barrier (BBB) permeability to water remains underexplored.

This study reports the diagnosis and treatment of a 26-year-old pregnant woman with severe malnutrition combined with acute pyelonephritis causing sepsis, refractory septic shock and multiple organ failure. A female patient, 26 years old, was admitted to hospital mainly due to "menelipsis for more than 19 weeks, nausea and vomiting for 20 days, fever with fatigue for 3 days". At the end of 19 weeks of intrauterine pregnancy, the patient presented with fever accompanied by urinary tract irritation.

Objective: To explore the application value of dual chamber round tissue expander in immediate breast reconstruction.
Methods: Sixteen patients, who had been provided immediate tissue expander/implant two-stage breast reconstruction using dual chamber round tissue expander in our hospital from March 2022 to October 2023, were involved in this study, and the relevant information was analyzed retrospectively. The overall design of the expander is a round shape, consisting of two equally divided semi-circular chambers.
