Antipatharians, also called black corals, are present in almost all oceans of the world, until extreme depths. In several regions, they aggregate in higher densities to form black coral beds that support diverse animal communities and create biodiversity hotspots. These recently discovered ecosystems are currently threatened by fishing activities and illegal harvesting for commercial purposes. Despite this, studies dedicated to the physiology of antipatharians are scarce and their responses to global change stressors have remained hardly explored since recently. Here, we present the first study on the physiological responses of a mesophotic antipatharian Stichopathes sp. (70-90 m) to thermal stress through a 16-d laboratory exposure (from 26 to 30.5 °C). Oxygen consumption measurements allowed identifying the physiological tipping point of Stichopathes sp. (T = 28.3 °C; 2.7 °C above mean ambient condition). Our results follow theoretical predictions as performances start to decrease beyond T, with lowered oxygen consumption rates, impairment of the healing capacities, increased probability of tissue necrosis and stress responses activated as a function of temperature (i.e. increase in mucocyte density and total antioxidant capacity). Altogether, our work indicates that Stichopathes sp. lives at suboptimal performances during the coldest months of the year, but also that it is likely to have low acclimatization capacity and a narrow thermal breadth.

Aim: This study evaluates long-term shear bond strength (SBS) and enamel micro cracks (MCs) healing after using adhesive pre-coated brackets (APC).
Materials And Methods: A total of eighty extracted human premolar teeth were randomly divided into four experimental groups ( = 20 per group): Control group: Teeth underwent indentation but no bracket bonding; group II : Teeth were subjected to indentation without exposure to thermocycling; group III: Teeth experienced both indentation and thermocycling; group IV: No indentation was applied to the teeth; groups III and IV were further divided into two subgroups to simulate different clinical timelines: Subgroup A (n = 10): Teeth underwent 5,000 thermocycles, equivalent to six months of clinical use. Subgroup B (n = 10): Teeth were subjected to 10,000 thermocycles, representing 12 months of use.

This study investigates the optimization of cutting conditions for machining titanium alloy (Ti-6Al-4V) using Response Surface Methodology (RSM), with the goal of minimizing tool-chip interface temperature and surface roughness. The research focuses on key cutting parameters to investigate the most effective combinations for enhancing surface finish and reducing thermal impact during machining. The present study deals with the dry turning of Ti-6Al-4V alloy with carbide alloy inserts in a way to utilize the Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) to develop predictive models for minimum surface roughness and optimum temperature.

This investigation represents porothermoelastic asphalt material with thermal shock due to multi-phase lag model of thermoelasticity. By applying proper boundary conditions to the normal mode approach, we were able to achieve the precise solution. The graphs provide numerical results for the physical quantities supplied in physical domain.

Traditional aluminum-silicon alloy pistons are gradually replaced by steel pistons, which has become the trend of future diesel engine development. However, the efficient design and broad application of steel pistons are limited by the higher density of steel. For this reason, a new lightweight design method for steel pistons in diesel engines was proposed in this paper.

Whilst the world sees the tremendous growth of mobile phone technology, radiofrequency electromagnetic radiation (RF-EMR) induced possible health effects have emerged as a topic of recent day debate. The current study is designed to test the hypothesis that chronic 900MHz radiation exposure would potentially dysregulate the stress response system (HPA axis) in vivo, via, its non-thermal mechanisms, leading to alterations in the microarchitecture of the adrenal gland, vulnerable brain regions such as the hippocampus which may results in altered behaviours in rats. Male albino Wistar rats aged four weeks, weighing 50-60g were subjected to 900MHz radiation from a cellphone for four weeks at a rate of one hour per day.
