To analyze the outcomes of thermal ablation for isthmic papillary thyroid microcarcinoma (PTMC). Data for 21 isthmic-PTMC patients who underwent microwave ablation under ultrasound guidance were retrospectively collected. General information on patients and characteristics of tumors were collected. The technical effectiveness, tumor recurrence and volume changes and postoperative complications were recorded during the follow-up. Comparisons with 105 nonisthmic-PTMCs were done. The technical effectiveness was 100%. No recurrence or lymph node metastases were detected. Tumor volume decreased significantly with a volume reduction rate of 1.00 ± 0.01 (range: 0.99 - 1.0) at the final evaluation and seven cases (31.8%) were completely resolved. No complication was encountered. No statistical differences were observed in terms of complications, recurrence or the volume reduction rate compared with the nonisthmic group (all p > 0.05). Percutaneous microwave ablation is an effective treatment strategy for isthmic-PTMC.

Hypoxia, a condition that enhances tumor invasiveness and metastasis, poses a significant challenge for diverse cancer therapies. There is a pressing demand for hypoxia-responsive nanoparticles with integrated photodynamic functions in order to address the aforementioned issues and overcome the reduced efficacy caused by tumor hypoxia. Here, we report a hypoxia-responsive supramolecular nanoparticle SN@IR806-CB consisting of a dendritic drug-drug conjugate (IR806-Azo-CB) and anionic water-soluble [2]biphenyl-extended-pillar[6]arene modified with eight ammonium salt ions (AWBpP6) the synergy of π-π stacking interaction, host-guest complexation, and hydrophobic interactions for synergistic photothermal therapy (PTT), photodynamic therapy (PDT), and chemotherapy (CT; , PTT-PDT-CT).

High-intensity focused ultrasound thermal ablation (HIFU) is a novel non-invasive technique in the treatment of liver metastases (LIM) that allows focal destruction and is not affected by dose limits. This retrospective study aimed to explore the efficacy of HIFU in improving survival and the safety of the method in newly diagnosed patients with cancer with LIM who received first-line immune checkpoint inhibitor (ICI) therapy. Between January 2018 and December 2023, data from 438 newly diagnosed patients with cancer and LIM who were treated at Mianyang Central Hospital (Mianyang, China) were reviewed.

In situ tumor vaccines, which utilize antigens generated during tumor treatment to stimulate a cancer patient's immune system, has become a potential field in cancer immunotherapy. However, due to the immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment (ITME), the generation of tumor antigens is always mild and not sufficient. Tumor-resident intracellular bacteria have been identified as a complete tumor microenvironment component to contribute to creating ITME.

Organic-inorganic hybrid perovskites (OIHPs) have attracted enormous attention owing to their intriguing structural tunability and diverse functional properties. Reconstructive phase transitions, involving the breaking and reconstruction of chemical bonds, have rarely been found in such materials; however, these features may induce many intriguing physical properties in optics, ferroelectrics, ferromagnetics, and so forth. Here, we utilized the weak and switchable coordination bonds of HETMA-MnCl (HETMA = (2-hydroxyethyl) trimethylammonium) to construct a 1D hybrid perovskite employing a neutral framework.

Magnetic resonance guided focused ultrasound (MRgFUS) is one of the most attractive emerging minimally invasive procedures for breast cancer, which induces localized hyperthermia, resulting in tumor cell death. Accurately assessing the post-ablation viability of all treated tumor tissue and surrounding margins immediately after MRgFUS thermal therapy residual tumor tissue is essential for evaluating treatment efficacy. While both thermal and vascular MRI-derived biomarkers are currently used to assess treatment efficacy, currently, no adequately accurate methods exist for the in vivo determination of tissue viability during treatment.
