Transport of intracellular components relies on a variety of active and passive mechanisms, ranging from the diffusive spreading of small molecules over short distances to motor-driven motion across long distances. The cell-scale behavior of these mechanisms is fundamentally dependent on the morphology of the underlying cellular structures. Diffusion-limited reaction times can be qualitatively altered by the presence of occluding barriers or by confinement in complex architectures, such as those of reticulated organelles. Motor-driven transport is modulated by the architecture of cytoskeletal filaments that serve as transport highways. In this review, we discuss the impact of geometry on intracellular transport processes that fulfill a broad range of functional objectives, including delivery, distribution, and sorting of cellular components. By unraveling the interplay between morphology and transport efficiency, we aim to elucidate key structure-function relationships that govern the architecture of transport systems at the cellular scale.

5-Fluorouracil (5-FU) is an antimetabolite widely prescribed in cancer treatments, but its use in highly proliferative tissues can cause significant problems such as mucositis. is a probiotic commonly used for protection against acute diarrhea, gastrointestinal dysbiosis and inflammatory bowel diseases. We investigated the effect of on 5-FU intestinal mucositis in mice.

We synthesized n-type polymers poly{[N,N'-bis(2-octyldodecyl)-naphthalene-1,4,5,8-bis(dicarboximide)-2,6-diyl]-alt-5,5'-(2,2'-bithiophene)} [P(NDI2OD-T2)] and poly{[N,N'-bis(3-(4-cardanol)propyl)-naphthalene-1,4,5,8-tetracarboxylic diimide]-alt-[5,5'-bis(2-thienyl)-2,2'-bithiophene]} [P(NDICL-T2)] with cardanol-based side chains via Stille coupling to enhance electron mobility. Replacing the 2-octyldodecyl side chain with cardanol in P(NDICL-T2) improved electron mobility due to increased chain flexibility and ordered packing. Lower glass transition temperature (), red-shifted UV-vis absorption, results from crystalline structure analysis, indicating tighter lamellar spacing and enhanced molecular ordering, and smoother surface morphology confirmed the enhanced intermolecular interactions and uniform film formation.

Asphaltenes, as the most complex and strongly polar component among the four components of asphalt, have a significant impact on the macroscopic physicochemical properties of asphalt. Currently, the vast variety of molecular structures used to characterize asphaltenes increases the construction complexity of asphalt molecular models. To construct a more realistic asphalt molecular model and reduce the construction difficulty, this investigation obtains the molecular morphology, molecular polarity, and infrared spectrum indicators of 21 asphaltene molecules through quantum chemical calculations.

The rational design of heterojunction photocatalysts enabling fast transportation and efficient separation of photoexcited charge carriers is the key element in visible light-driven photocatalyst systems. Herein, we develop a unique Z-scheme heterojunction consisting of NiMoO microflowers (NMOF) and ZIF67, referred to as ZINM (composite), for the purpose of antibiotic degradation. ZIF67 was produced by a solution process, whereas NMOF was synthesized via coprecipitation with a glycine surfactant.

Nanocomposites based on FeO and carbonaceous nanoparticles (CNPs), including carbon nanotubes (CNTs) and graphene derivatives (graphene oxide (GO) and reduced graphene oxide (RGO)), such as FeO@GO, FeO@RGO, and FeO@CNT, have demonstrated considerable potential in a number of health applications, including tissue regeneration and innovative cancer treatments such as hyperthermia (HT). This is due to their ability to transport drugs and generate localized heat under the influence of an alternating magnetic field on FeO. Despite the promising potential of CNTs and graphene derivatives as drug delivery systems, their use in biological applications is hindered by challenges related to dispersion in physiological media and particle agglomeration.
