Here, we report the synthesis of MoS/graphene heterostructure in single-stage, liquid-phase exfoliation using a 7:3 isopropyl alcohol/water mixture. Further, the synthesized heterostructure was characterized using UV-visible and micro-Raman spectroscopies, transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and dynamic light scattering (DLS) analysis. UV-visible and micro-Raman analyses confirmed that the synthesized heterostructure had mostly few-layered (two-to-four sheets) MoS. The photophysical properties of the heterostructure were analyzed using steady-state and time-resolved luminescence techniques. Enhanced photoluminescence was observed in the case of the heterostructure probably due to an increase in the defect sites or reduction in the rate of nonradiative decay upon formation of the sandwiched heterostructure. Applications of this heterostructure for fluorescence live-cell imaging were carried out, and the heterostructure demonstrated a better luminescence contrast compared to its individual counterpart MoS in phosphate-buffered saline (PBS).

Building anion-derived solid electrolyte interphase (SEI) with enriched LiF is considered the most promising strategy to address inferior safety features and poor cyclability of lithium-metal batteries (LMBs). Herein, we discover that, instead of direct electron transfer from surface polar groups to bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)imide (TFSI) for inducing a LiF-rich SEI, the dipole-induced fluorinated-anion decomposition reaction begins with the adsorption of Li ions and is highly dependent on their mobility on the polar surface. To demonstrate this, a single-layer graphdiyne on MXene (sGDY@MXene) heterostructure has been successfully fabricated and integrated into polypropylene separators.

The development and generation of affordable and highly efficient energy, particularly hydrogen, are one of the best approaches to address the challenges posed by the depletion of non-renewable energy sources. Hydrogen energy, as a green and ecosystem-friendly source with zero carbon emission, can be generated through various methods, including water splitting (HER/OER) either photo- or electrocatalytic reactions. To implement these reactions effectively in practical applications, it is highly desirable to develop extremely efficient and cost-effective catalytic materials that are comparable to contemporary catalysts.

Designing cost-effective electrocatalysts with fast reaction kinetics and high stability is an outstanding challenge in green hydrogen generation through overall water splitting (OWS). Layered double hydroxide (LDH) heterostructure materials are promising candidates to catalyze both oxygen evolution reaction (OER) and hydrogen evolution reaction (HER), the two OWS half-cell reactions. This work develops a facile hydrothermal route to synthesiz hierarchical heterostructure MoS@NiFeCo-LDH and MoS@NiFeCo-Mo(doped)-LDH electrocatalysts, which exhibit extremely good OER and HER performance as witnessed by their low IR-corrected overpotentials of 156 and 61 mV with at a current density of 10 mA cm under light assistance.

Herein, we investigated the carrier-phonon relaxation process in a two-dimensional (2D) BAPbBr perovskite and its heterostructure with MoS. Energy transfer was observed in the van der Waals heterostructure of 2D perovskite and monolayer MoS, leading to enhancement in the photoluminescence intensity of MoS. Femtosecond pump-probe spectroscopy was used to study the carrier and lattice dynamics of pristine 2D materials and their heterostructure.

Quantum Cascade Lasers (QCL) are promising semiconductor lasers, compact and powerful, but of complex design. Availability of structured data of the QCL properties can support data mining activities that seek to understand the relationship between these properties, for instance between the design and performance features. The main open source of QCL data is in scientific text which in most cases is usually unstructured.
