Published: March 2022

Congenital atresia of the common and external iliac arteries is an extremely rare vascular anomaly, although often associated with limb ischemia and genitourinary malformations. We have presented a rare case of the congenital absence of the left common and external iliac arteries, with no limb ischemic symptoms or organ anomalies present.

Background: Postoperative ileus (POI) is a common postoperative clinical complication that significantly affects postoperative rehabilitation and quality of life in patients and can even produce secondary complications, leading to serious consequences. External treatment using Shenhuang Plaster (SHP) (Shenque acupoint administration) has definite effects and unique advantages in the prevention and treatment of POI, but its mechanism is not completely clear. In this study, we investigated the therapeutic mechanism behind the effect of Shenhuang Plaster applied to the Shenque acupoint on gastrointestinal motility in POI mice based on metabolomics.

Endometriosis is a common gynecological disease that affects approximately 10-15% of reproductive-aged women worldwide. This debilitating disease has a negative impact on the quality of life of those affected. Despite this condition being very common, the pathogenesis is not well understood.

Instability remains one of the most common indications for revision after total knee arthroplasty. To gain a better understanding of how an implant will perform in vivo and support surgeons in selecting the most appropriate implant design for an individual patient, it is crucial to evaluate the implant constraint within clinically relevant ligament and boundary conditions. Therefore, this study investigated the constraint of three different implant designs (symmetrical implants with and without a post-cam mechanism and an asymmetrical medial-stabilized implant) under anterior-posterior shear forces and internal-external rotation moments at different flexion angles in human cadaveric knees using a six-degrees-of-freedom joint motion simulator.

Atrial fibrillation (AF) is the most common persistent arrhythmia, and it is crucial to develop generalizable automatic AF detection methods. However, supervised AF detection is often limited in performance due to the difficulty in obtaining labeled data. To address the gap between limited labeled data and the requirements for model robustness and generalization in single-lead ECG AF detection, we proposed a semi-supervised contrastive learning method named MLMCL for AF detection.

Uniform hyperscanning paradigm to study cooperation and competition.

Centro de Investigación en Ciencias, Universidad Autónoma del Estado de Morelos (UAEM), Cuernavaca, Morelos, Mexico.

It is assumed that social interaction like cooperation or competition takes place via synchronized interbrain activity, measurable via hyperscanning experiments. However, interbrain synchronization might also be due to common external stimuli without any genuine inter-personal interaction. In addition, a consistent experimental paradigm is required to distinguish between different modalities such as cooperation or competition.
