A method for highly sensitive determination of trace antimony was proposed by using cobalt ion enhanced photochemical vapor generation (PCVG) for sample introduction into atomic fluorescence spectrometry (AFS) or inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) for elemental detection. During the PCVG process, the sample introduction efficiency of Sb could be significantly improved by addition of 5 mg L Co in the mixed acid medium of 10% (v/v) formic acid and 20% (v/v) acetic acid, with a final 12-fold and 133-fold enhancement of AFS and ICP-MS intensity, respectively. The experimental conditions including enhancement ions, acid medium, UV irradiation, working gas as well as potential interference were investigated in detail. Under the optimal experimental conditions, the limit of detection (LOD) for Sb was 0.05 and 0.001 μg L by using AFS and ICP-MS determination, respectively. The method was successfully used for analysis of real water samples, with satisfactory recoveries of 92-94%.

The incidence of heat-related illnesses and heatstroke continues to rise amidst global warming. Hyperthermia triggers inflammation, coagulation, and progressive multiorgan dysfunction, and, at levels above 40 °C, can even lead to cell death. Blood cells, particularly granulocytes and platelets, are highly sensitive to heat, which promotes proinflammatory and procoagulant changes.

This study presents a new highly sensitive and specific time-resolved fluoroimmunoassay (TRFIA) for the measurement of trace amounts of the urinary 8-hydroxy-2`-deoxyguanosine (8-OHdG) which is a biomarker for oxidative stress on DNA. The assay relied on a competitive binding approach and a mouse monoclonal antibody which recognized 8-OHdG with high specificity. In this assay, 8-OHdG conjugated with bovine serum albumin protein (8-OHdG-BSA) was employed as a solid phase antigen.

This study examined how Israeli men who pay women for sex (MPWS) construct and sustain a moral identity within the social context that often portrays them as deviants, perpetrators, and abusers, thereby challenging their ability to maintain a respectful and dignified image. Twenty-three Israeli MPWS participated in in-depth semi-structured interviews, which were then analyzed using constructivist grounded theory method. Using the theoretical framework moral reflexivity, we conceptualize three central dynamics of constructing and sustaining a moral identity in the context of paying for sex: Maintaining an intact moral self by resisting the moral conflict; presenting a reflexive agonizing moral self; and constructing a moral self through identity fragmentation.

A self-powered dual-electrode aptasensor was developed for the detection of tumor marker carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA). The composite BiVO/ZnInS, which is capable of forming a Z-scheme heterojunction, was chosen as the photoanode, and the AuNP/CuBiO complex was chosen as the photocathode in photoelectrochemical (PEC) detection. The experiments showed that the constructed self-powered dual-electrode system had a good photoelectric response to white light, and the photocurrent signal of the photocathode was significantly enhanced under the influence of the photoanode.
