H and F spin-lattice relaxation experiments have been performed for a series of ionic liquids sharing the same anion: bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)imide but including cations of different alkyl chain lengths: butyltriethylammonium, triethyloctylammonium, dodecyltriethylammo-nium and hexadecyltriethylammonium. The studies have been carried out in the temperature range from 383 to 108 K at the resonance frequency of 200 MHz (for H). A quantitative analysis of the relaxation data has revealed two dynamical processes for both kinds of ions. The dynamics have been successfully modeled in terms of the Arrhenius law. The timescales of the dynamical processes and their temperature evolution have been discussed in detail, depending on the structure of the cation.

Chitin, the second most abundant polysaccharide in nature, offers numerous practical applications due to its versatile functional properties. However, its utilization is constrained by significant challenges in extraction, as well as low solubility and high crystallinity. While traditional chemical and biological fermentation methods can achieve high-purity chitin, these processes are often environmentally harmful or time/energy-consuming.

α-Hydroxy ketones are a crucial class of organic compounds prevalent in natural products and pharmaceutical molecules. The CO-promoted hydration of propargylic alcohols is an efficient method for the synthesis of α-hydroxy ketones. Herein, an ionic liquid (IL) was designed to catalyze this reaction individually under atmospheric CO pressure, volatile organic solvents, and additives.

This article compares the rheological and tribological properties of three ionic liquids: Tributyl(methyl)phosphonium dimethyl phosphate 97%-MFCD, 1-Butyl-3-methylimidazolium hexafluorophosphate 97%-BMIMPF6, and 1-Butyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate 98%-BMIMBF4. Their density and kinematic viscosity at 20 °C and 40 °C were investigated, and tribological tests were carried out at the same temperatures with ball-on-disc contact. The test materials were made of 100Cr6 steel.

The efficient removal of dyes is of significant importance for environmental purification and human health. In this study, a novel material (Si-MPTS-IL) has been synthesized by the immobilization of imidazole ionic liquids (ILs) onto nano-silica using the radiation grafting technique. The adsorption performance of Si-MPTS-IL for Coomassie Brilliant Blue (CBB) removal is studied by a series of static adsorption experiments.

Membranes have been used as versatile tools for the separation of various natural products; however, the selective separation of structural analogs of natural products using membranes remains challenging. In this study, biocomposite membranes based on poly(ionic liquids) and different natural fibers (jute, cotton, or wool) were successfully prepared. Natural fibers can regulate the microstructure and improve the mechanical properties of membranes.
