In shrimp, several glutathione peroxidase (GPX) genes have been cloned and functionally studied. Increasing evidence suggests the genes' involvement in white spot syndrome virus (WSSV)- or -infection resistance. In the present study, a novel GXP gene () was cloned in . Promoter of was activated by NF-E2-related factor 2. Further study showed that expression was evidently accelerated by oxidative stress or WSSV or infection. Consistently, downregulated expression of increased the cumulative mortality of WSSV- or -infected shrimp. Similar results occurred in shrimp suffering from oxidative stress. Moreover, LvGPX3 was important for enhancing () gene expression in S2 cells with lipopolysaccharide treatment. Further, knockdown of expression significantly suppressed expression of AMPs, such as , and in shrimp. AMPs have been proven to be engaged in shrimp WSSV- or -infection resistance; it was inferred that LvGPX3 might enhance shrimp immune response under immune challenges, such as increasing expression of AMPs. The regulation mechanism remains to be further studied.

Oxidative stress-associated proximal tubular cells (PTCs) damage is an important pathogenesis of hypertensive renal injury. We previously reported the protective effect of VEGFR3 in salt-sensitive hypertension. However, the specific mechanism underlying the role of VEGFR3 in kidney during the overactivation of the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system remains unclear.

Background: The photothermal sensitivity of tobacco refers to how tobacco plants respond to variations in the photothermal conditions of their growth environment. The degree of this sensitivity is crucial for determining the optimal planting regions for specific varieties, as well as for improving the quality and yield of tobacco leaves. However, the precise mechanisms underlying the development of photothermal sensitivity in tobacco remain unclear.

Gamma radiation is known to induce several detrimental effects on the nervous system. The hippocampus region, specifically the dentate gyrus (DG) and subventricular zone (SVZ), have been identified as a radiation-sensitive neurogenic niche. Radiation alters the endogenous redox status of neural stem cells (NSCs) and other proliferative cells, especially in the hippocampus region, leading to oxidative stress, neuroinflammation, and cell death.

Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a prevalent endocrine and metabolic disorder affecting women of reproductive age. Oxidative stress (OS) is suggested to play a significant role in the development of PCOS. Using antioxidants to reduce OS and maintain a healthy balance in the body could be a novel treatment approach for PCOS.
