is an opportunistic gram-negative bacterium most commonly found in the upper respiratory tract of humans. With the advent of vaccines, most infections caused by these bacteria have been suppressed. However, in the immunocompromised host, an invasive infection may occur, particularly within the musculoskeletal system. In this paper, we present the case of a 55-year-old male with septic shock secondary to polyarticular infection. The patient was successfully treated with surgical irrigation and debridement, and antibiotics. Haemophilus infections should be part of the differential in patients with musculoskeletal pain and immunocompromise to avoid potential delays in surgical management.

Septic arthritis is a medical emergency that rarely occurs without direct trauma to a joint, compromise or trauma to the synovium, or internal hematogenous seeding from bacteremia. Infection of a single joint space is a cause for concern, and infection of multiple joints is even more rare and concerning. Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) renders patients particularly susceptible to encapsulated bacteria as it compromises opsonization, humoral immunity, as well as neutrophil function.

Gout is a rare phenomenon in reproductive age women due to the uricosuric effects of estrogen. Furthermore, gout in pregnancy has been reported in only a scant number of case reports. We present the case of a 21-year-old gravida-4 para-3 female at four-weeks gestation presenting with acute polyarticular gout, complicated by Haemophilus influenzae sepsis and hyperemesis gravidarum.

Background: The oral microbiota has been implicated in the pathogenesis of rheumatoid arthritis through activation of mucosal immunity. This study tested for associations between oral health, microbial communities and juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA).
Methods: A cross-sectional exploratory study of subjects aged 10-18 years with oligoarticular, extended oligoarticular and polyarticular JIA was conducted.

is serologically classified into two main categories based on the presence or absence of the polysaccharide capsule. Strains that possess polysaccharide capsules are identified as typeable , whereas strains that do not have capsules are identified as non-typeable . Only on very rare occasions, affects adult joints, and almost 95% of cases have been identified as type b serotypes.
