The authors give an account of their examinations with hysterography after caesarean sections and present the various arrangements of the subject in the literature. They state that the employment of a single-layered suture for the fusion of the lips of wound of the uterus gives a better result than the use of a double-layered suture. The aims of this study were to characterize the hysterographic and histological features of the uteri and to perform immunohistochemistry with proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA) in the cat endometrium at various stages of the reproductive cycle and after treatment with exogenous progestagen. Seventy-four female domestic cats submitted for routine ovariohysterectomy were categorized into six groups: inactive (n=20), follicular (n=9), luteal (n=18), and postpartum (n=12) stages of the reproductive cycle; cats given medroxyprogesterone acetate for estrus prevention (MPA group) (n=12); and cats with uterine pathological lesions (n=3). Hysterography was performed and the relation of the uterine and luminal shape in the hysterogram with the stage of the reproductive cycle as well as with any pathological conditions of the uterus was evaluated.

It was established that there were no roentgenological data for synechiae after the conducted treatment in 73.9% of the examined hysterograms.

An attempt is made to systematize characteristic changes in this lesion (measures, location, form and outlines). A conclusion is reached that roentgenological examination with the possibility objectively to establish the existence of submucous myomas, on the one hand and to determine their typical morphological peculiarities, on the other, could help to diagnose cases with obscure clinical history.

The authors examined 33 women at fertile age with complaints of dysfunctional uterine bleedings, not affected by medicamentous therapy and absence of convincing data for changes in the gynecological status. Probatory curettage was made in 18 out of 33 women, but ultrasonic examination was made on the other 15 patients. We compared the obtained results with the data from hysterographic examination.

Based on a personal series of 54 cases of endo-uterine haemorrhage with normal endometrium, the authors show that lesions of the myometrium which may result in haemorrhages, consist mainly of interstitial or submucous myomas and adenomyosis, i.e. lesions on which medical treatments are ineffective.
