The serum uric acid-to-creatinine ratio (UCR) may be a simple method for assessing xanthine oxidase overactivation, which may contribute to an increase in serum uric acid production and oxidative stress. In this study, we investigated the nonlinear association between the UCR and long-term mortality in patients with hypertension. Data were acquired from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey database, and a total of 11,346 patients with hypertension were included.

The Wanshan mercury mining area (WMMA) in Guizhou Province, China, has been identified as a region at high ecological risk owing to heavy metal contamination. This study employed non-lethal sampling methods, using the phalanges of Pelophylax nigromaculatus in the WMMA as analytical material. Ten heavy metal (metalloid) elements were selected for analysis, including Hg, Cr, Mn, Ni, Cu, Zn, Cd, Pb, As, and Se.

Background: Missing observations within the univariate time series are common in real-life and cause analytical problems in the flow of the analysis. Imputation of missing values is an inevitable step in every incomplete univariate time series. Most of the existing studies focus on comparing the distributions of imputed data.

Spatial impairment characterizes Alzheimer's disease (AD) from its earliest stages. We present the design and preliminary evaluation of "Barn Ruins," a serious virtual reality (VR) wayfinding game for early-stage AD. Barn Ruins is tailored to the cognitive abilities of this population, featuring simple controls and error-based scoring system.
