The foot is the most common anatomic site for foreign body embedment in both children and adults. An 11-year-old boy boy with a history of autism spectrum disorder (ASD), learning disorder, and attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) was brought to our ED with a pencil deeply embedded in his right foot. The broken portion of the pencil was completely embedded in his right foot, with mild bleeding and it could not be extracted easily. The pencil was eventually mobilized via gentle back-and-forth twisting motion, which allowed successful removal of a significant portion of the embedded pencil. To establish the presence of a foreign body, as in each X-ray, the affected body part should be imaged in at least two directions. Based on the density of the embedded foreign body, ultrasound imaging should be considered.

Distinctive molecular approaches and tools, particularly high-throughput SNP genotyping, have been applied to determine and discover SNPs, potential genes of interest, indicators of evolutionary selection, genetic abnormalities, molecular indicators, and loci associated with quantitative traits (QTLs) in various livestock species. These methods have also been used to obtain whole-genome sequencing (WGS) data, enabling the implementation of genomic selection. Genomic selection allows for selection decisions based on genomic-estimated breeding values (GEBV).

Surgical management of feline extra-hepatic biliary obstruction (EHBO) has poor survival rates with few prognostic factors reported in the literature. The etiology and clinical findings of feline EHBO and their influence on short-(2 weeks-6 months) and long-term (>6 months) survival and prognosis were examined in an observational clinical retrospective study of 26 client-owned cats undergoing surgery for biliary obstruction at one institution between 2012 and 2020. The etiology of EHBO was determined in 21/26 cats, which included inflammatory causes (14/21), neoplastic causes (6/21), and a duodenal foreign body (1/21).

We describe the case of a 43-year-old woman presented with an 8-month history of intermittent non-specific abdominal pain. She had an Intrauterine Contraceptive Device (IUCD) inserted 4-years ago and the device was still in-situ. After initial gynaecological assessment, further clinical radiological investigations, computerized tomography imaging showed that the intraluminal part of the radiological foreign body was seen to be possibly perforating the sigmoid colon after having migrated.

Bladder foreign bodies (BFB) are uncommon in the pediatric population. They typically arise from self-insertion, iatrogenic factors, or trauma. Cystoscopy is the preferred intervention.
