Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate the dynamic changes in QTc interval duration among patients with COVID-19 infection before, during, and after infection, in order to assess the short- and potential long-term impact of COVID-19 on cardiac electrophysiology.
Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on 303 inpatients diagnosed with COVID-19 who visited a tertiary Grade A hospital in China between August 2022 and December 2023. Inclusion criteria required patients to have at least two electrocardiogram (ECG) recordings at three specific time points: before COVID-19 infection, during acute infection, and after recovery (more than one month post-infection).

Marked first-degree atrioventricular block with a PR interval ≥500 ms is rare, leading to unusual P-wave placement. In this case, the P waves immediately after the QRS waves complicated rhythm interpretation. Close attention to P-wave morphology and fused premature ventricular complexes can be important for a proper diagnosis.

To enhance real-time S-wave detection in the railway earthquake early warning (EEW) system, we improved the existing short-term average/long-term average (STA/LTA) algorithm. This enhancement focused on developing a more robust and computationally efficient method. Specifically, we introduced noise reflecting P-wave amplitude information before the P-wave to better distinguish between P- and S-waves.

Background: Impaired cardiac function is associated with cognitive impairment and brain imaging features of aging. Cardiac arrhythmias, including atrial fibrillation, are implicated in clinical and subclinical brain injuries. Even in the absence of a clinical diagnosis, subclinical or prodromal substrates of arrhythmias, including an abnormally long or short P-wave duration (PWD), a measure associated with atrial abnormalities, have been associated with stroke and cognitive decline.

Myxomatous mitral valve disease (MMVD) is the most prevalent cardiac disease in dogs. This study aimed to compare the arrhythmogenic profile and heart rate variability (HRV) of dogs with MMVD in stages B1 and B2. Electrocardiographic exams and the medical records of 60 dogs were analyzed, and HRV, P wave dispersion, QT interval dispersion, and QT interval instability parameters were determined.
