Oral health is increasingly recognized as a vital component of general health, influencing various systemic systems. Periodontal diseases, particularly periodontitis, a chronic inflammatory condition affecting the gums and supporting tissues of teeth, have far-reaching implications beyond the oral cavity. Treating periodontitis not only benefits oral health but also plays a crucial role in reducing the burden of these chronic conditions, improving patient outcomes and lowering healthcare costs.

Salicylic acid (SA) is a phenolic phytohormone widely believed to regulate plant growth and stress response. Despite its significance, the genetic basis of SA-mediated resistance to biotic stressors in tea plants is little understood. Our study investigated the genetic diversity, population structure, and linkage disequilibrium (LD) patterns of 299 tea accessions using 79 560 high-quality single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) obtained from genotyping-by-sequencing (GBS) data.

Background: Biliverdin reductase (BVR) plays a central role in bile pigment metabolism by reducing biliverdin (BV) to bilirubin (BR), a potent antioxidant that scavenges reactive oxygen species (ROS) under normal and pathological conditions. Elevated oxidative stress activates extracellular signal-regulated protein kinases 1/2 (ERK1/2) signaling, which strongly interacts with BVR's C and D motifs, forming the BVR/ERK1/2 axis. In pathological states, increased ERK1/2 activity inhibits BVR's ability to convert BV to BR, exacerbating oxidative damage and contributing to cardiovascular disease.

Colorectal cancer (CRC) is a common and lethal malignancy that affects millions of people worldwide. Iron is an essential micronutrient that plays a vital role in various biological processes, but also has pro-oxidant and pro-inflammatory effects that may contribute to carcinogenesis. The relationship between iron and CRC is complex and influenced by multiple factors, such as dietary intake, absorption, storage, metabolism, and excretion of iron, as well as genetic and environmental factors that modulate iron homeostasis.

Introduction: The role of pupil participation in school-based physical activity is an often overlooked element despite the increasing interest in pupils' voices in policy development and research. Pupil participation is here defined as collaborative actions involving pupils and school stakeholders that influence decision-making processes in school-based physical activity. This study was conducted to explore how the 10- and 15-year-old pupils perceive their participation roles in school-based physical activity connected to age and the contexts of physically active learning and recess in various schools in Norway and Estonia.
