The reactions of amide functionalized bisphosphine -PhPCHC(O)N(H)CHPPh- () with platinum salts are described. Treatment of with [Pt(COD)Cl] yielded a chelate complex, [PtCl{-PhPCHC(O)N(H)CHPPh-}] (), which on subsequent treatment with LiHMDS formed a novel 1,2-azaphospholene-phosphine complex [Pt(CH)Cl{-CH{C(O)N(-PPh(CH))P(Ph)}}] () involving a tandem P-C bond cleavage and P-N bond formation. The same complex on passing dry HCl gas afforded the dichloro complex [PtCl{-CH{C(O)N(-PPh(CH))P(Ph)}}] (). Complex upon refluxing in toluene or treatment of with [Pt(COD)Cl] in the presence of a base at room temperature resulted in the pincer complex [PtCl{-PhPCHC(O)N(CHPPh-)}] (). Reaction of with [Pt(COD)ClMe] at room temperature also afforded the pincer complex [PtMe{-PhPCHC(O)N(CHPPh-)}] (). Mechanistic studies on 1,2-azaphospholene formation showed the reductive elimination of LiCl to form a phosphonium salt that readily adds one of the P-C bonds oxidatively to the generated Pt species to form a chelate complex . The analogous palladium complex [PdCl{-CH{C(O)N(-PPh(CH))P(Ph)}}] () showed excellent catalytic activity toward -alkylation of amines with alcohols with a very low catalyst loading (0.05 mol %), and the methodology is very efficient toward the gram-scale synthesis of many -alkylated amines.

Toxoplasma gondii, an obligate intracellular protozoan, infects almost all warm-blooded animals and humans, with felines serving as its sole definitive hosts. Cats release T. gondii oocysts into the environment through feces, contributing to environmental contamination that can lead to toxoplasmosis in humans upon exposure through ingestion of contaminated food, water, or soil.

Carboxylic acids and aromatic compounds are essential building blocks and starting materials for the production of a wide range of fine chemicals and materials. Their recovery from kraft black liquor, an industrial effluent from pulp and paper mills, is a promising way to produce alternative bio-based chemicals. Reliable methods are needed to identify and quantify the molecules of interest in complex mixtures such as black liquors.

Background: There are a variety of different treatments for patients living with subacromial pain syndrome (SAPS). All treatments have small to moderate effect sizes, and it is challenging when healthcare practitioners and patients need to decide on which treatment options to choose. The aim of this study was to explore and understand the decisional needs of patients with SAPS, to inform and support the decision-making process.

Background: Craniocervical junction dural arteriovenous fistulas (CCJ-DAVFs) are rare and complex vascular malformations that are challenging to diagnose and treat. This study aims to compare surgical and endovascular treatments for CCJ-DAVFs through a systematic review and meta-analysis.

Methods: A systematic review and meta-analysis was conducted according to the PRISMA guidelines.

Objectives: Patients are often discharged to a skilled nursing facility (SNF) for postacute rehabilitation. Functional outcomes achieved in SNFs are variable, and costs are high. Especially for accountable care organizations (ACOs), home-based postacute rehabilitation offers a high-value option if outcomes are not compromised.
