A new experimental setup has been developed to investigate the reactions of molecular ions and charged clusters with a variety of projectile beams. An Electrostatic Ion Beam Trap (EIBT) stores fast ions at keV energies in an oscillatory motion. By crossing it with a projectile beam, e.g., an IR laser, molecular reactions can be induced. We implemented a Reaction Microscope (REMI) in the field-free region of the EIBT to perform coincidence spectroscopy on the resulting reaction products. In contrast to prior experiments, this unique combination of techniques allows us to measure the 3D momentum-vectors of ions, electrons, and neutrals as reaction products in coincidence. At the same time, the EIBT allows for advanced target preparation techniques, e.g., relaxation of hot molecules during storage times of up to seconds, autoresonance cooling, and recycling of target species, which are difficult to prepare. Otherwise, the TrapREMI setup can be connected to a variety of projectile sources, e.g., atomic gas jets, large-scale radiation facilities, and ultrashort laser pulses, which enable even time-resolved studies. Here, we describe the setup and a first photodissociation experiment on H , which demonstrates the ion-neutral coincidence detection in the TrapREMI.

Photocatalytic reduction of CO will play a major role in future energy and environmental crisis. To investigate the adsorption mechanisms of CO and HO molecules involved in the catalytic process on the surface of anatase titanium dioxide 101 (TiO(101)) and the influence of Au atom doping on their adsorption, first-principles density functional theory calculations were used. The results show that 1.

Dental caries causes mineral loss and organic damage to teeth. Understanding caries and dentin pulp reactions is crucial for effective caries management strategies. There is a lack of knowledge regarding the microscopic and ultramicroscopic changes that occur during caries destruction and reactive changes.

Intestinal parasitic infections (IPIs), caused by helminths and/or protozoa, continue to be a significant public health concern in Indonesia. Water access, sanitation, and hygiene practices (WASH) are influential factors for IPIs, especially among children. The aim of this study was to investigate the association between WASH and IPIs among school-aged children.

The electrochemical CO reduction reaction (CORR) holds enormous potential as a carbon-neutral route to the sustainable production of fuels and platform chemicals. The durability for long-term operation is currently inadequate for commercialization, however, and the underlying deactivation process remains elusive. A fundamental understanding of the degradation mechanism of electrocatalysts, which can dictate the overall device performance, is needed.
