Safe, effective, cost-effective, easy feasible and low-waste decontamination technologies are fundamental importance from environmental and radiation protection aspects. In this study the effectiveness of AP-CITROX decontamination technology of Inconel alloy 690 was investigated. Non-radioactive representative metal samples were formed to test of decontamination technology and the clear-, the corroded-, the decontaminated layer were analysed electrochemically. The results indicate that the passivation step of the technology was not completed.

Implant Surface Decontamination Methods That Can Impact Implant Wettability.

Materials (Basel)

December 2024

Department of Prosthodontics and Digital Technology, School of Dental Medicine, Stony Brook University, Stony Brook, NY 11794, USA.

This review addresses the effects of various decontamination methods on the wettability of titanium and zirconia dental implants. Despite extensive research on surface wettability, there is still a significant gap in understanding how different decontamination techniques impact the inherent wettability of these surfaces. Although the literature presents inconsistent findings on the efficacy of decontamination methods such as lasers, air-polishing, UV light, and chemical treatments, the reviewed studies suggest that decontamination alters in vitro hydrophilicity.

Food processing is a fundamental requirement for extending the shelf life of food products, but it often involves heat treatment, which can compromise organoleptic quality while improving food safety. Infrared (IR) radiation has emerged as a transformative technology in food processing, offering a rapid, energy-efficient method for inactivating microbial cells and spores while preserving the nutritional and sensory attributes of food. Unlike traditional heating methods, IR technology enhances heating homogeneity, shortens processing time, and reduces energy consumption, making it an environmentally friendly alternative.

Peroxyacetic acid (PAA)-based advanced oxidation processes (AOPs) have emerged as a promising treatment method to decontaminate organic pollutants. This review thoroughly evaluated the use of PAA-based AOPs, including their synthesis techniques, physicochemical features, and reaction pathways with pollutants. It also illustrated two primary channels: free radical pathways and non-radical pathways during the PAA activation processes and introduced various methods for activating PAA, including energy radiation, transition metal catalysis, and carbon catalysis.
