Video dimensions are continuously increasing to provide more realistic and immersive experiences to global streaming and social media viewers. However, increments in video parameters such as spatial resolution and frame rate are inevitably associated with larger data volumes. Transmitting increasingly voluminous videos through limited bandwidth networks in a perceptually optimal way is a current challenge affecting billions of viewers. One recent practice adopted by video service providers is space-time resolution adaptation in conjunction with video compression. Consequently, it is important to understand how different levels of space-time subsampling and compression affect the perceptual quality of videos. Towards making progress in this direction, we constructed a large new resource, called the ETRI-LIVE Space-Time Subsampled Video Quality (ETRI-LIVE STSVQ) database, containing 437 videos generated by applying various levels of combined space-time subsampling and video compression on 15 diverse video contents. We also conducted a large-scale human study on the new dataset, collecting about 15,000 subjective judgments of video quality. We provide a rate-distortion analysis of the collected subjective scores, enabling us to investigate the perceptual impact of space-time subsampling at different bit rates. We also evaluated and compare the performance of leading video quality models on the new database. The new ETRI-LIVE STSVQ database is being made freely available at (https://live.ece.utexas.edu/research/ETRI-LIVE_STSVQ/index.html).

Background: Interpreter service mode (in person, audio, or video) can impact patient experiences and engagement in the healthcare system, but clinics must balance quality with costs and volume to deliver services. Videoconferencing and telephone services provide lower cost options, effective where on site interpreters are scarce, or patients with limited English proficiency (LEP) and/or interpreters are unable to visit healthcare centers. The COVID 19 pandemic generated these conditions in Northwest Wisconsin (NWWI).

This project describes the design, implementation, and evaluation of a presentation coaching program offered by an academic surgical society to presenters at its annual meeting.
Design: Oral presenters were paired with a coach and encouraged to meet independently, yet coaching was unstructured.

Objective: Racial disparities in clinical communication quality are well-established but most clinical communication assessment tools are created without the collaboration of racially-diverse patient populations. Our objective was to collaborate with Black and White cancer survivors, caregivers, and advocates to develop and validate a tool to assess physicians' patient-centered communication.
Methods: A panel of Black and White cancer survivors, caregivers, and advocates (n = 11) and researchers observed and discussed video-recorded patient-physician cancer clinical interactions to generate and refine a list of physician communication behaviors considered critical for high-quality patient-centered communication.

Introduction: Laparoscopic distal pancreatectomy (LDP) has the advantages of reduced blood loss, shorter hospital stays, and a better postoperative quality of life compared with open distal pancreatectomy (ODP). Meanwhile, spleen-preserving laparoscopic distal pancreatectomy is the preferred technique for low-grade malignant and benign tumors located in pancreatic body and tail, since it preserves the immune function of the spleen. The splenic-vessel-preserving (SVP) Kimura technique and splenic vessel resection Warshaw technique are the two primary procedures.

To enhance the efficacy of multimedia quantum processing and diminish processing overhead, an advanced multimedia quantum representation model and quantum video display framework are devised. A range of framework processing operators are also developed, including an image color compensation operator, a bit plane inversion operator, and a frame displacement operator. In addition, to address image security issues, two quantum image operations have been proposed: color transformation operation and pixel blending operation.
