The present study intended to compare the antioxidant, anti-lipid peroxidation, and anti-inflammatory potentials of (NS) and on 5-FU-induced liver damage in rats. 48 rats were divided into control, control group of the onion extract, control group of the NS extract, 5-FU-treated, concomitant NS-treated, and concomitant onion extract-treated. Liver sections were processed for histological analysis (light and electron microscopic examination). Liver enzymes (ALT, AST, and ALP), inflammatory markers (TNF-α and IL-1), antioxidant markers (SOD, GSH, and GSH/GSSG ratio), 4-HNE, NF-κB, and Nrf2 were evaluated. The 5-FU-treated group exhibited inflammation, congested hepatic sinusoid, and steatosis. Improvement with few pathological residues was seen in the concomitant extract-treated groups. The 5-FU-treated group showed higher liver enzymes. The enzymes decreased in the concomitantly treated groups. 5-FU induced liver damage through oxidative stress, inflammation, and lipid peroxidation. Concomitantly using NS and onion extracts resulted in a reduction in oxidative stress, lipid peroxidation, and inflammation. NS and onion extracts attenuated 5-FU-induced liver damage via antioxidative, anti-lipid peroxidative, and anti-inflammatory mechanisms. NS's role was exceptional when compared with onion extract.

Imidazo based heterocyclic derivatives are considered as privileged scaffolds due to their presence in various pharmacologically active compounds and in marketed formulations. The present study reports toxicological evaluation of three imidazo based heterocyclic derivatives which are currently being investigated for their potential anticancer activity. Compounds IG-01-007, IG-01-008, and IG-01-009 were assessed for cytotoxicity, hemolysis, and DNA fragmentation activity.

The timeless tale of Snow White, with its emphasis on fair skin as a beauty ideal, mirrors a contemporary issue in nephrology: the harmful impact of skin-whitening creams on kidney health. Fairness creams have deeply embedded themselves in global society, driven by a pervasive obsession with lighter skin tones as a symbol of beauty. This widespread use reflects deeply rooted cultural beliefs and social norms, despite the significant health risks associated with these products.

Purpose: To examine the efficacy and safety of pemafibrate in outpatients with hypertriglyceridemia, including alcoholic hypertriglyceridemia.
Method: This multicenter, open-label, prospective observational study (C20-07-009) included outpatients with hypertriglyceridemia being treated with pemafibrate who were registered at Fukuoka University Chikushi Hospital or associated clinics. Endpoints were changes in serum triglyceride (TG) and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C), hepatic biomarkers, and other blood values from baseline to 24 weeks and safety.

Introduction: Road traffic accidents (RTA) account for a sizable portion of morbidity and mortality globally, with a particularly high incidence among young and active individuals. Patients presenting with polytrauma require a multidisciplinary approach guided by protocols for advanced trauma life support.
Case Report: We report the case of a 31-year-old female, transferred-in to our center following primary care after an RTA on June 17th, 2023.
Many inherited metabolic disorders (IMD) are associated with end-organ damage necessitating organ transplantation. Although utilization of deceased donors with history of IMD warrants caution, there may be circumstances under which such donors could be considered as suitable organ donor candidates. We present the first known report of liver transplantation from a deceased donor with cystinosis.
