One new anthraquinone, questinlin (), four known anthraquinones (), together with three known benzophenone derivatives () were isolated from a wetland fungus PJ03-11. Their structures were elucidated on the basis of detailed spectroscopic analysis, including 1D, 2D NMR (HMQC, HMBC), mass spectrometry, and optical rotation and IR spectra. In addition, the cytotoxic activities against three human cancer cell lines (HepG2, Caco-2 and A549) were evaluated. In this article, PJ03-11, a wetland soil fungus isolated from Honghaitan, Panjin city, Liaoning province, was used to study the secondary metabolites through one strain many compounds (OSMAC) methods. By changing the culture medium and adding the substance stimulating the metabolism of the strain into the fermentation medium, the peak type and amount of ethyl acetate extract in the fermentation medium were studied by HPLC. Finally, 2 M MgCl was added into the rice solid medium for the expansion fermentation.

Temperate estuary wetlands act as natural filters for microbiological contamination and have a profound impact on "One Health." However, knowledge of microbiological ecology security across the different habitats in temperate estuarine wetlands remains limited. This study employed meta-analysis to explore the characteristics of bacterial communities, potential pathogens, and antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs) across three heterogeneous habitats (water, soil, and sediment) within the Liaohe Estuary landscape.

Electronic address:

Autophagy is a conserved and unique degradation system in eukaryotic cells, which plays crucial roles in the growth, development and pathogenesis of Fungi. Despite that, it is poorly understood in Fusarium graminearum currently. Here, we identified an autophagy gene FgAtg27 from F.

Increasing pesticide diversity impairs soil microbial functions.

Proc Natl Acad Sci U S A

January 2025

Key Laboratory of Urban Environment and Health, Ningbo Urban Environment Observation and Research Station, Institute of Urban Environment, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Xiamen 361021, China.

Pesticide application is essential for stabilizing agricultural production. However, the effects of increasing pesticide diversity on soil microbial functions remain unclear, particularly under varying nitrogen (N) fertilizer management practices. In this study, we investigated the stochasticity of soil microbes and multitrophic networks through amplicon sequencing, assessed soil community functions related to carbon (C), N, phosphorus (P), and sulfur (S) cycling, and characterized the dominant bacterial life history strategies via metagenomics along a gradient of increasing pesticide diversity under two N addition levels.

Since late 2021, outbreaks of highly pathogenic avian influenza virus have caused a record number of mortalities in wild birds, domestic poultry, and mammals in North America. Wetlands are plausible environmental reservoirs of avian influenza virus; however, the transmission and persistence of the virus in the aquatic environment are poorly understood. To explore environmental contamination with the avian influenza virus, a large-volume concentration method for detecting infectious avian influenza virus in waterbodies was developed.
