The eye is a very complex organ comprising several physiological and physical barriers that compromise drug absorption into deeper layers. Nanoemulsions are promising delivery systems to be used in ocular drug delivery due to their innumerous advantages, such as high retention time onto the site of application and the modified release profile of loaded drugs, thereby contributing to increasing the bioavailability of drugs for the treatment of eye diseases, in particular those affecting the posterior segment. In this review, we address the main factors that govern the development of a suitable nanoemulsion formulation for eye administration to increase the patient's compliance to the treatment. Appropriate lipid composition and type of surfactants (with a special emphasis on cationic compounds) are discussed, together with manufacturing techniques and characterization methods that are instrumental for the development of appropriate ophthalmic nanoemulsions.

TIGIT and PVRIG are immune checkpoints co-expressed on activated T and NK cells, contributing to tumor immune evasion. Simultaneous blockade of these pathways may enhance therapeutic efficacy, positioning them as promising dual targets for cancer immunotherapy. This study aimed to develop a bispecific antibody (BsAb) to co-target TIGIT and PVRIG.

Adeno-associated viral (AAV) vectors are increasingly used for preclinical and clinical cardiac gene therapy approaches. However, gene transfer to cardiomyocytes poses a challenge due to differences between AAV serotypes in terms of expression efficiency and . For example, AAV9 vectors work well in rodent heart muscle cells but not in cultivated neonatal rat ventricular cardiomyocytes (NRVCMs), necessitating the use of AAV6 vectors for studies.

With the rising demand of saffron, it is essential to standardize the confirmation of its origin and identify any adulteration to maintain a good quality led market product. However, a rapid and reliable strategy for identifying the adulteration saffron is still lacks. Herein, a combination of headspace-gas chromatography-ion mobility spectrometry (HS-GC-IMS) and convolutional neural network (CNN) was developed.

Flail foot is a condition characterized by a significant weakness in ankle dorsiflexion, resulting in limited or no active mobility in the ankle. To address this issue, we described a novel approach called tenodesis, which has been developed for ankle joint stabilization. This technique utilizes the patient's tendons to minimize potential complications.

Colorectal cancer (CRC) is one of the most prevalent and deadly malignancies worldwide. Recently, ferroptosis, a novel form of regulated cell death characterized by iron dependency and lipid peroxidation, has garnered significant attention from researchers. The mechanisms underlying ferroptosis, including intracellular iron levels, lipid peroxidation, and antioxidant system regulation, offer new insights into cancer treatment strategies.
