Objective: To identify risk factors of postoperative ileus (POI) in elective colorectal cancer (CRC) surgery.
Material And Methods: A non-randomized retrospective study included 220 patients who underwent elective surgery for colorectal tumors. The indication for surgery was CRC stage 0-IV in 213 (96.8%) cases, villous adenoma in 7 cases (3.2%). Risk factors of POI defined in univariate analysis were included into multivariate analysis. Logistic regression was used in this case.
Results: Risk factors of POI were male sex (=0.04), multifocal CRC (=0.03), intraoperative transfusion (=0.005), postoperative transfusion (=0.035), left-sided hemicolectomy (=0.01), colostomy (=0.02), loop transversostomy (=0.003), loop colostomy (=0.02). According to logistic regression, independent risk factors of POI were male sex (=0.015), left-sided hemicolectomy (=0.004), intraoperative transfusion =0.002), loop transversostomy (=0.019).
Conclusion: Independent risk factors of POI in elective colorectal cancer surgery were male sex, left-sided hemicolectomy, intraoperative transfusion and loop transversostomy.

Improving the regeneration of the tendon-bone interface (TBI) helps to decrease the risk of rotator cuff retears after repair surgeries. Unfortunately, the lack of inherent healing capacity of the TBI, insufficient mechanical properties, and abnormal and persistent inflammation during repair are the key factors leading to suboptimal healing of the rotator cuff. Therefore, a high-strength rotator cuff repair material capable of regulating the unbalanced immune response and enhancing the regeneration of the TBI is urgently needed.

Background: Serious games play a fundamental role in promoting safe sexual behaviors. This medium has great potential for promoting healthy behaviors that prevent potential risk factors, such as sexually transmitted infections, and promote adherence to sexual health treatments, such as antiretroviral therapy. The ubiquity of mobile devices enhances access to such tools, increasing the effectiveness of video games as agents of change.
