Despite therapeutic treatments and the growing utilization of multimodal therapies, gastric cancer (GC) remains a highly aggressive malignancy with high mortality worldwide. Much of the complexity in treating GC is due to the high incidence of peritoneal metastasis (PM), with mean overall survival typically ranging from 4 to 10 months. With current systemic therapy, targeted therapies, and immunotherapies continuing to remain ineffective for GC/PM, there has been a significant growing interest in intraperitoneal (IP) therapies for the treatment of GC/PM.

Recently, we developed a spatial phage-assisted continuous evolution (SPACE) system. This system utilizes chemotaxis coupled with the growth of motile bacteria during their spatial range expansion in soft agar to provide fresh host cells for iterative phage infection and selection pressure for preserving evolved genes of interest carried by phage mutants. Controllable mutagenesis activated only in a subpopulation of the migrating cells is essential in this system to efficiently generate mutated progeny phages from which desired individuals are selected during the directed evolution process.

Ferritin, a highly conserved iron storage protein, is among the earliest proteins that have been purified, named, and characterized due to its unique properties that continue to captivate researchers. Ferritin is composed of 24 subunits that form an almost spherical shell delimiting a cavity where thousands of iron atoms can be stored in a nontoxic ferric form, thereby preventing cytosolic iron from catalyzing oxidative stress. Mitochondrial and extracellular ferritin have also been described and characterized, with the latter being associated with several signaling functions.

The objective of this review is to evaluate the contributions of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to Assisted Reproductive Technologies (ART), focusing on its role in enhancing the processes and outcomes of fertility treatments. This study analyzed 48 relevant articles to assess the impact of AI on various aspects of ART, including treatment efficacy, process optimization, and outcome prediction. The effectiveness of different machine learning paradigms-supervised, unsupervised, and reinforcement learning-in improving ART-related procedures was particularly examined.
