Article Synopsis
  • The study followed patients with early-stage follicular lymphoma (ESFL) who were treated with involved field radiotherapy (IFRT) alone or combined with chemotherapy (cyclophosphamide/vincristine/prednisolone) and later added rituximab to the treatment, analyzing its effects over an 11.3-year period.* -
  • Results showed that those receiving IFRT plus rituximab (IFRT + R-CVP) had significantly better progression-free survival rates (62% vs. 43%) compared to IFRT alone, even though overall survival rates didn’t differ significantly.* -

Background: Appendiceal cancer is a rare disease that has proven difficult to study in prospectively. Our initial report of this trial showed minor hematologic toxicity with both mitomycin C and oxaliplatin and similar 3-year survival. We now report an update of the first prospective randomized trial for appendiceal cancer with 10-year follow up.

The aim of the study was to report the outcome of primary localized low-grade fibromyxoid sarcoma (LGFMS), sclerosing epithelioid fibrosarcoma (SEF), and hybrid LGFMS/SEF (H-LGFMS/SEF). Patients with primary localized LGFMS, SEF, or H-LGFMS/SEF, surgically treated with curative intent from January 2000 to September 2022, were enrolled from 14 countries and 27 institutions. Pathologic inclusion criteria were predefined by expert pathologists.

Purpose: There is limited evidence of tobacco smoking's effect on cancer survivors' quality of life (QOL) and function. As the natural history of localized prostate cancer (PCa) is protracted, there is a need to identify modifiable risk factors that can influence PCa survivorship, such as tobacco smoking.

Material And Methods: We used up to 10-year survey data from the CEASAR (Comparative Effectiveness Analysis of Surgery and Radiation) study, a prospective, population-based, observational study of patients diagnosed with localized PCa in 2011-2012.
