Background: Endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) is increasingly being adopted for the treatment of early-stage colorectal cancer (CRC) lesions.

Methods: We retrospectively analyzed patients with early-stage CRC treated between 2015 and 2023, using ESD and colectomy databases, categorizing them into three groups: ESD only (n ​= ​24), oncological colorectal resection (OCR) only (n ​= ​90), and OCR after ESD (n ​= ​59). We compared pathological and oncological outcomes among these groups.

Background And Study Aims: Diffuse infiltrative gastric cancer can be difficult to diagnose owing to a lack of endoscopic features in the superficial mucosa. Moreover, a forceps biopsy may not reveal a pathological diagnosis. We aimed to evaluate the diagnostic yield and safety of endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR) and 'open-lid submucosal biopsy', a technique wherein EMR followed by biopsy of the ulcer floor is performed for a pathological diagnosis.

Neuroendocrine tumors (NETs) of the biliary tract are extremely rare due to a paucity of Kulchitsky cells. While their preoperative diagnosis remains challenging due to the lack of specific diagnostic markers and imaging findings, there have been no detailed reports describing the diagnostic utility of various imaging modalities for bile duct NETs at the junction of the cystic and common hepatic ducts. We report a case of a woman in her 40s who presented with jaundice and elevated hepatobiliary enzymes.
