Developing fluorescent materials with multiple and tunable emissions under different conditions is necessary to meet the growing demand for optical anticounterfeiting technology. Different modes of fluorescence emission can be obtained by loading multiple fluorescent components into metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) and modulating the interaction among them for multiple anticounterfeiting purposes. Herein, a Cd-based MOF () was constructed as a host to encapsulate both lanthanide ions and carbon quantum dots. Multiple fluorescence emissions can be achieved by modulation of host-guest and guest-guest interaction, which holds promise for multiple anticounterfeiting applications. This work opens the opportunity to construct the hybrid MOF-based materials with controlled fluorescence properties for emerging anticounterfeiting applications in various fields.

Photonic crystals (PC) play a key role in optical field modulation due to their unique photonic band gaps (PBGs). Anodic aluminum oxide (AAO) prepared by pulse anodization is a promising candidate for PC devices. In this research, an AAO-based PC with multi-band was fabricated on a single-slice & single-material film, which exhibits multi-band responses in the visible-to-near-infrared (vis-NIR) region.

Physical unclonable functions (PUFs) are considered the most promising approach to address the global issue of counterfeiting. Current PUF devices are often based on a single stochastic process, which can be broken, especially since their practical encoding capacities can be significantly lower than the theoretical value. Here we present stochastic PUF devices with features across multiple length scales, which incorporate semiconducting polymer nanoparticles (SPNs) as fluorescent taggants.

Traditional organic light-emitting materials hinder their anti-counterfeiting application in solid state due to their aggregation-caused quenching effect. A facile and straightforward method was reported to introduce AIE molecules into microspheres and manipulate different reaction parameters to prepare AIE microspheres with different morphologies. In this strategy, fluorescent microspheres with spherical, apple-shaped, and hemoglobin-like types were synthesized.

Regulating strategies for long persistent luminescence (LPL) are always in high demand. Herein, a series of coordination polymers (CPs) (SUST-Z1-Z4) are fabricated using 1,10-phenanthroline derivatives involving different substituents (─H, ─CH, ─Cl, and ─Br) as ligands, respectively. Crystallographic data demonstrate that these CPs adopt alternating arrangements of cadmium halide chains and π-conjugated ligands.

Single crystal X-ray diffraction studies highlight that these Ln-MOFs present three-dimensional porous architectures offering large cavities decorated with hydrogen bonding (H-bonding) groups. These Ln-MOFs display noteworthy luminescent characteristics.
