The core of the title complex, bis-[hexa-aqua-hemi-aqua-penta-kis-(μ-glycine-hydroxamato)sulfato-penta-copper(II)terbium(III)] sulfate hexa-hydrate, [TbCu(SO)(GlyHA)(HO)](SO)·6HO (), which belongs to the 15-metalla-crown-5 family, consists of five glycine-hydroxamate dianions (GlyHA; CHNO) and five copper(II) ions linked together forming a metallamacrocyclic moiety. The terbium(III) ion is connected to the centre of the metallamacrocycle through five hydroxamate oxygen atoms. The coordination environment of the Tb ion is completed to an octa-coordination level by oxygen atoms of a bidentate sulfate and an apically coordinated water mol-ecule, while the copper(II) atoms are square-planar, penta- or hexa-coordinate due to the apical coordination of water mol-ecules. Continuous shape calculations indicate that the coordination polyhedron of the Tb ion in is best described as square anti-prismatic. The positive charge of each pair of [TbCu(GlyHA)(HO)(SO)] fragments is compensated by a non-coordinated sulfate anion, which is located on an inversion center with 1:1 disordered oxygen atoms. Complex is isomorphous with the previously reported compounds [Cu(GlyHA)(SO)(HO)](SO), where = Pr, Nd, Sm, Eu, Gd, Dy and Ho.

Synergistic therapy combining photothermal therapy (PTT) and chemodynamic therapy (CDT) has proven to be a highly effective strategy for cancer treatment. However, PTT heavily relies on the accumulation of therapeutic agents at the tumor site. The peroxidase (POD) activity of common catalysts can be rapidly exhausted during the accumulation process, prior to laser intervention, thereby diminishing the synergistic enhancement effect of the combined therapy.

Visceral leishmaniasis is a systemic disease that affects various internal organs and represents the most severe and fatal form of leishmaniasis. Conventional treatment presents significant challenges, such as prolonged management in hospital settings, high toxicity, and an increasing growing number of cases of resistance. In previous studies, our research group demonstrated the effective and selective activity of the 2-amino-thiophene derivative SB-83 in preclinical models of cutaneous leishmaniasis.

This study investigates the surface energies and work function changes in ZnGaO(111) surfaces with different atomic terminations using ab initio density functional theory. It explores the interactions of gas molecules such as NO, NO, and CHCOCH with Ga-terminated, O-terminated, and Ga-Zn-O-terminated surfaces. This study reveals previously unreported insights into how O-terminated surfaces exhibit enhanced reactivity with NO, resulting in significant work function changes of +6.

Although commonly appreciated for their anti-oxidative and neuroprotective properties, flavonoids can also exhibit pro-oxidative activity, potentially reducing cell survival, particularly in the presence of metal ions. Disrupted copper homeostasis is a known contributor to neuronal dysfunction through oxidative stress induction. This study investigated the effects of myricitrin (1-20 μg/mL) on copper-induced toxicity (0.

Photocatalytic water disinfection technology is highly promising in off-grid areas due to abundant year-round solar irradiance. However, the practical use of powdered photocatalysts is impeded by limited recovery and inefficient inactivation of stress-resistant bacteria in oligotrophic surface water. Here we prepare a floatable monolithic photocatalyst with ZIF-8-NH loaded Ag single atoms and nanoparticles (Ag/ZIF).
