Purpose: To assess the repeatability of corneal dynamic response (CDR) parameters in normal and keratoconus (KC) eyes using ultra high-speed Scheimpflug imaging.

Methods: Prospective, comparative, observational study, including eyes of 112 patients that underwent high-speed Scheimpflug imaging analysis (Corvis ST, OCULUS). Twenty-one CDR parameters were evaluated to asses repeatability using: coefficient of repeatability (CR), coefficient of variation, intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC) and within-subject SD. Three consecutive measurements by the same operator were performed for each eye.

Results: There were no significant differences between the three consecutive measurements for all parameters in both normal and KC eyes. 71.42% (15 of the 21 parameters evaluated) and 85.71% (18 of the 21 parameters) were highly repeatable in the normal and KC group, respectively. The tomographic biomechanical index (TBI), corneal biomechanical index (CBI), and stiffness parameter (SPA1) showed an ICC of 0.978, 0.954, and 0.958 in normal and 0.982, 0.892, and 0.978 in KC eyes, respectively. The CR in normal eyes for TBI, CBI, and SPA1 were 0.169, 0.242, and 14.12, respectively, and for KC eyes 0.06, 0.23, and 13.64, respectively.

Conclusions: Most of the corneal dynamic response parameters were highly repeatable in normal and KC eyes.

Unlabelled: The introduction of bidirectional corneal applanation technologies into clinical practice made possible the in vivo assessment of biomechanical properties of the fibrous tunic in myopic eyes.

Purpose: This study analyzes the potential of bidirectional corneal applanation with high-speed video recording for biomechanical control of myopia, focusing on the biomechanical parameters of the sclera and cornea.

Material And Methods: The study included 129 patients (168 eyes) with myopia ranging from -0.

Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to evaluate corneal biomechanical properties in normal individuals versus those with keratoconus using two methods: the Brillouin optical scanning system (BOSS) and ultra-high-speed Scheimpflug imaging (Corvis ST).
  • A total of 60 eyes from 60 patients were analyzed, with measurements taken at various locations on the cornea to assess the repeatability and differences in biomechanical properties between the two groups.
  • Results indicated that the BOSS had good repeatability, and both BOSS and Corvis ST showed significant differences, revealing that corneas in keratoconus patients are structurally softer compared to normal individuals.

Purpose: To explore the influence of corneal higher-order aberrations (HOAs) on dynamic visual acuity (DVA) post cataract surgery.

Methods: A total of 27 patients with 45 eyes following cataract surgery were included in this study. The postoperative monocular object-moving DVA at the velocity of 20, 40, and 80 degrees per second (dps) were examined at 1 month.

Background: In this study, an automatic corneal contour extraction algorithm with a shared model is developed to extract contours from dynamic corneal videos containing noise, which improves the accuracy of corneal biomechanical evaluation and clinical diagnoses. The algorithm does not require manual labeling and completes the unsupervised semantic segmentation of each frame in corneal dynamic deformation videos based on a fully convolutional deep-learning network using corneal geometry and texture information.

Results: We included 1027 corneal videos at Tianjin Eye Hospital (Nankai University Affiliated Eye Hospital) from May 2020 to November 2021.

This study aimed to investigate the effects of topical anesthetic and fluorescein drops on intraocular pressure (IOP), central corneal thickness (CCT) and biomechanical properties as measured by Corvis ST (CST-Oculus; Wezlar, Germany) in healthy eyes. A cross-sectional observational study was conducted on 46 healthy patients. The CST measurements were obtained before and immediately after the instillation of topical anesthetic and fluorescein drops.
