Echinicola, carotenoid-pigmented bacteria, are isolated from various hypersaline environments. Carotenoid accumulation in response to salt stress can stabilize the cell membrane in order to survive. A pink-colored strain SCS 3-6 was isolated from the deep-sea sediment of the South China Sea. Growth was found to occur at 10-45 °C. The strain could tolerate 10% (w/v) NaCl concentration and grow at pH 5-9. The complete genome of SCS 3-6 comprises 5053 putative genes with a total 5,693,670 bp and an average G + C content of 40.11 mol%. The 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis indicated that strain SCS 3-6 was affiliated with the genus Echinicola, with the closely strains were Echinicola arenosa CAU 1574 (98.29%)and Echinicola shivajiensis AK12 (97.98%). For Echinicola species with available genome sequences, pairwise comparisons for average nucleotide identity (ANI) and in silico DNA-DNA hybridization (DDH) revealed ANIb values from 70.77 to 74.71%, ANIm values from 82.72 to 88.88%, and DDH values from 18.00 to 23.40%. To identify their genomic features, we compared their genomes with those of other Echinicola species. Phylogenetic analysis showed that strain SCS 3-6 formed a monophyletic clade. Genomic analysis revealed that strain SCS 3-6 possessed a complete synthetic pathway of carotenoid and speculated that the production was astaxanthin. Based on phenotypic and genotypic analyses in this study, strain SCS 3-6 is considered to represent a novel species of the genus Echinicola for which the name Echinicola marina sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain is SCS 3-6 (= GDMCC 1.2220 = JCM 34403).

In controlled donation after circulatory death (DCD) liver transplantation, ischemia-reperfusion injury is linked to post-reperfusion syndrome (PRS), acute kidney injury (AKI), and early allograft dysfunction (EAD). Normothermic regional perfusion (NRP) and normothermic machine perfusion (NMP) are techniques that mitigate ischemic injury and associated complications. In this single centre retrospective study, we compared early transplant outcomes of DCD livers undergoing direct procurement (DP) and static cold storage (DCD-DP-SCS), NRP procurement with SCS (DCD-NRP-SCS), or DP with NMP (DCD-DP-NMP).

The present work describes the results for the bilateral comparison between the Secondary Standards Dosimetry Laboratories of the Instituto Nacional de Investigaciones Nucleares (SSDL-ININ), Mexico, and the pilot laboratory, the Centro de Protección e Higiene de las Radiaciones (SSDL-CPHR), Cuba, for the realization of the air kerma (${\boldsymbol{K}}_{\boldsymbol{a}}$) quantity to: (i) diagnostic X-ray (DXR) IEC 61267:2005 beam qualities: RQR 5 RQR 9, RQT 8, and RQT 9 and (ii) radiation protection (RP) ISO 4037:2019 X-ray beam qualities: N60, N100, and W60, as well S-Cs for gamma radiation. The matched and characterized reference fields are realized at SSDL-ININ with a Toshiba E7252FX X-ray tube. In all cases, the ${\boldsymbol{K}}_{\boldsymbol{a}}$ measurements are traceable to PTB, except for S-Cs, traceable to ININ.

Objectives: This single-arm, open-label, single-center observational pilot study assessed the safety and efficacy of ultrahigh-frequency dorsal root ganglia (UHF-DRG) stimulation in patients with chronic leg pain with or without low back pain. Such high-frequency electrostimulation had not been conducted in the human central nervous system previously.
Materials And Methods: The primary objective was to evaluate the safety of UHF-DRG stimulation (2 Hz pulses with 50 msec pulse-width and 500 kHz intrapulse sine waves, 5-min duration per stimulation) by identifying incident adverse events (AE) and severe adverse events (SAE) during the trial.

Background: Dynamic spasticity (DS) is a common complication post-spinal cord injury (SCI), marked by intermittent increases in muscle tone during postural transitions or movement. Despite its prevalence, high-quality research on DS incidence, risk factors, and underlying mechanisms in SCI patients remains limited. With the growing application of spinal cord stimulation (SCS) for spasticity control, the role of proprioception in DS development has garnered attention.

SCs can be disguised in various ways and are commonly sold in the form of electronic cigarette oil. SCs belong to a large family with structures consisting of a core with substituents, linker, ring with substituents, and tail.
