We recently reviewed the article titled "Outcomes of Bolus Dose Furosemide Versus Continuous Infusion in Patients With Acute Decompensated Left Ventricular Failure and Atrial Fibrillation" published in Clinical Cardiology by [khan et al.] (1) with great interest. This study addresses a crucial area of clinical practice, and we appreciate the authors' efforts in exploring this topic.

Hepatitis B virus (HBV) reactivation is a recognized complication of long-term immunosuppressive or cytotoxic therapy, typically occurring during immunosuppression or within a few months after treatment. To mitigate this risk, hepatological societies recommend the use of nucleos(t)ide analogues (NA) for HBV reactivation prophylaxis, along with post-treatment monitoring; though, these recommendations are not universally consistent across different guidelines. We present a case of late HBV reactivation in a 76-year-old male with occult HBV infection who received rituximab-based therapy for chronic lymphocytic leukemia.

Background: The onset of atopic dermatitis (AD) is complex, and its specific pathological mechanisms have not yet been fully elucidated.

Methods: Using circulating multi-omics as the exposure factors and AD as the outcome, we conducted univariable MR analysis. The circulating multi-omics data included immunomics (731 immune cell types), proteomics (4907 plasma proteins), metabolomics (1400 metabolites and 486 additional metabolites), and 91 inflammatory factors.

Hypoalbuminemia and cisplatin-induced acute kidney injury.

December 2024

Department of Pharmacy, The Third Xiangya Hospital, Central South University, Changsha, Hunan, China.

Background: Cisplatin binds to serum albumin in the body at a rate of 90%, and high levels of free cisplatin are a significant cause of its nephrotoxicity. Therefore, hypoalbuminemia theoretically poses a significant risk factor for cisplatin-induced acute kidney injury (CIA) and can be easily corrected. However, existing research results are inconsistent.

Objective: Acute retinal necrosis (ARN) caused by varicella-zoster virus (VZV) is associated with changes in specific proteins in the eye's fluid, particularly matrix metalloproteinase-3 (MMP-3), an enzyme that breaks down tissue structures, and tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinase-1 (TIMP-1), which regulates MMP activity. This study aims to investigate how these proteins correlate with the progression of ARN.

Methods: We analyzed aqueous humor samples from 33 patients with ARN and 23 control patients with virus-negative uveitis.
