We demonstrated a new class of 2D nanosheet-based FRET biosensor utilizing vertically oriented MoS nanosheets on a magnetic nanocarrier. Compared with the non-separated biosensor under identical conditions, this upgraded one can avoid the background signal of the system and eliminate the effects of background fluctuations, which produces more excellent detection methods

A tungsten disulfide (WS) nanosheet-based aptamer sensor was developed to detect patulin (PAT). The 5'-end of the PAT aptamer was modified with a cyanine 3 (Cy3) fluorophore, which self-assembled on WS nanosheets. The interaction between the Cy3 fluorophore at the 5'-end of the PAT aptamer and the WS nanosheets resulted in reduced fluorescence (FL) intensity due to fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET).

A carbon dots-MnO nanosheet-based turn-on pseudochemodosimeter as low-cost probe for selective detection of hazardous mercury ion contaminations in water.

Mercury is a highly hazardous element due to its profound toxicity and wide abundance in the environment. Despite the availability of various fluorimetric detection tools for Hg, including organic fluorophores and aptasensors, they often suffer from shortcomings like the utilization of expensive chemicals and toxic organic solvents, multi-step synthesis, sometimes with poor selectivity and low sensitivity. Whereas, biomass-derived fluorophores, such as carbon dots (CDs), present themselves as cost-effective and environmentally benign alternatives that exhibit comparable efficacy.

Near-infrared fluorescence (NIRF) probes greatly facilitate in vivo imaging of various biologically important species. However, there are several significant limitations such as consuming washing steps, photobleaching, and low signal intensity. Herein, we synthesized fluorescent copper nanosheets templated with DNA scaffolds (DNS/CuNSs).

Turn-on fluorescent glutathione detection based on lucigenin and MnO nanosheets.

J Mater Chem B

In this work, a glutathione (GSH) sensing nano-platform using lucigenin as a fluorescent probe in the presence of MnO2 nanosheets was reported for the first time. Unlike the earlier fluorescent detection systems based on MnO2 nanosheets, which depend on Förster resonance energy transfer (FRET) or the dynamic quenching effect (DQE), the mechanism of the quenching process of MnO2 nanosheets on lucigenin fluorescence was attributed mainly to a static quenching effect (SQE) with a minor contribution of the inner filter effect (IFE). A double exponential fluorescence decay of lucigenin was obtained in various MnO2 nanosheet concentrations as a result of their SQE and IFE.
