[Efficient treatment of mild Crohn's disease and mild ulcerative colitis].

Inn Med (Heidelb)

The cornerstone of treatment for mild ulcerative colitis is still the oral or topical (rectal) application of aminosalicylates (5-ASA). 5‑ASA preparations are often only administered orally in mild ulcerative colitis. Study data show that in ulcerative proctitis and left-sided colitis, rectal 5‑ASA preparations are even more effective than oral administration.

Background: Evidence regarding high-dose inhaled corticosteroids (HDICS) in asthma exacerbations in adults is insufficient. This study compares the treatment outcomes of HDICS as add-on therapy to the outcomes of standard treatment in adult patients with acute asthma exacerbation in the ED.

Methods: This was a single-centre, triple-blind, randomised controlled trial conducted in the ED in Thailand between March 2022 and April 2023.

To investigate the efficacy and assess the safety of transnasal nebulisation of budesonide in children with adenoid hypertrophy. Children with adenoid hypertrophy who attended the Children's Hospital of Zhejiang University School of Medicine between December 2021 and December 2022 were randomly assigned to budesonide high-dose group(Group A: budesonide 1 mg/dose + saline nasal rinse), budesonide low-dose group(Group B: budesonide 0.5 mg/dose + saline nasal rinse), and control group(Group C: saline nasal rinse), and each group 20 children were collected separately, The efficacy and safety of transnasal nebulisation of budesonide in children with adenoid hypertrophy were assessed by comparing the symptomatic VAS scores, adenoidal nasopharyngeal lateral radiographs A/N values, nocturnal sleep oximetry(SaO2), and the incidence of adverse events during the treatment period of 8-week in the three groups.

Objective: The aim of the present study was to determine the cost-utility of single inhaler combination inhaled corticosteroid and a long-acting β2-agonist (ICS/LABAs) as both maintenance and reliever (SMART) compared with a step-up maintenance treatment with a fixed medium to high dose of ICS combined with LABA and a short-acting β2-agonist (SABA) as reliever (ICS-LABA maintenance plus SABA) among patients aged 12 years or more with poorly controlled asthma in Colombia.

Methods: A Markov-type model was developed to estimate the costs and health outcomes of a simulated cohort of patients aged 12 years or more with uncontrolled asthma treated for 12 months. The main effectiveness data were obtained from a recent meta-analysis.

We report one of the first cases of eosinophilic gastritis (EoG) in a child under 12 years treated with benralizumab. At 7 years, our patient was started on benralizumab after failing to respond to various combinations of high-dose omeprazole, milk elimination diet, oral viscous budesonide, and oral systemic steroids. He had a complete depletion of gastrointestinal tissue eosinophils with improved symptoms but had symptomatic flares with tapering of background therapy.
