In previous work, we developed an exoskeleton (HandSOME II) that allows movement at 15 hand degrees of freedom (DOF) and is intended for take-home use. An activity tracking device was developed in order to track index finger movement with a pair of magnetometers and magnet. The goal was to detect grip attempts by the individual. Machine learning was utilized to estimate angles for metacarpophalangeal (MCP) and proximal interphalangeal (PIP) joints at the index finger. Testing was performed with healthy control and individuals with stroke.Clinical Relevance- This device and method of data collection during daily activities might be useful for stroke rehabilitation and compliance with home-based therapy programs.

Remote, digital cognitive testing on an individual's own device provides the opportunity to deploy previously understudied but promising cognitive paradigms in preclinical Alzheimer's disease (AD). The Boston Remote Assessment for NeuroCognitive Health (BRANCH) captures a personalized learning curve for the same information presented over seven consecutive days. Here, we examined BRANCH multi-day learning curves (MDLCs) in 167 cognitively unimpaired older adults (age = 74.

Manual semen evaluation methods are subjective and time-consuming. In this study, a deep learning algorithmic framework was designed to enable non-invasive multidimensional morphological analysis of live sperm in motion, improve current clinical sperm morphology testing methods, and significantly contribute to the advancement of assisted reproductive technologies. We improved the FairMOT tracking algorithm by incorporating the distance and angle of the same sperm head movement in adjacent frames, as well as the head target detection frame IOU value, into the cost function of the Hungarian matching algorithm.

Changes in chemical composition during food processing and handling are crucial for the alteration of food flavor and function, and accurate characterization of key chemical reaction pathways in complex food matrices is one of the core challenges in food chemistry research. Here, this study attempts to establish a strategy for sensitive characterization of chemical reactions during food processing based on on-line extraction electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (oEESI-MS). The process of making garlic into black garlic, a traditional global flavor food, was chosen as an exemplary research template.

This study aims to describe the stress levels experienced by parents of children with hearing loss who use conventional hearing aids or cochlear implants, and to assess the correlation between parental stress and the auditory skills acquired by the children. The study was conducted at the Policlinic "Gaetano Martino" in Messina, evaluating data from 42 pairs of parents of children using hearing aids or cochlear implants. Parents completed the LittlEARS Auditory Questionnaire (LEAQ) and the Parental Stress Scale (PSS) 18 months after the initial device (hearing aid or cochlear implant) had been activated.
