Psoriasis is the result of uncontrolled keratinocyte proliferation, and its pathogenesis involves the dysregulation of the immune system. The interplay among cytokines released by dendritic, T1, T2, and T17 cells leads to the phenotypical manifestations seen in psoriasis. Biological therapies target the cytokine-mediated pathogenesis of psoriasis and have improved patient quality of life. This review will describe the underlying molecular pathophysiology and biologics used to treat psoriasis. A review of the literature was conducted using the PubMed and Google Scholar repositories to investigate the molecular pathogenesis, clinical presentation, and current therapeutics in psoriasis. Plaque psoriasis', the most prevalent subtype of psoriasis, pathogenesis primarily involves cytokines TNF-α, IL-17, and IL-23. Pustular psoriasis', an uncommon variant, pathogenesis involves a mutation in IL-36RN. Currently, biological therapeutics targeted at TNF-α, IL-12/IL-23, IL-17, and IL-23/IL-39 are approved for the treatment of moderate to severe psoriasis. More studies need to be performed to elucidate the precise molecular pathology and assess efficacy between biological therapies for psoriasis. Psoriasis is a heterogenous, chronic, systemic inflammatory disease that presents in the skin with multiple types. Recognizing and understanding the underlying molecular pathways and biological therapeutics to treat psoriasis is important in treating this common disease.

Objectives: This study aims to investigate the relationship between noise kurtosis and cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk while exploring the potential of kurtosis assessment in evaluating CVD risk associated with complex noise exposure in coal mines.

Methods: This cross-sectional study started in April 2021 and ended in November 2022. It involved 705 coal miners selected from 1045 participants.

Purpose: Less than 5% of GI stromal tumors (GISTs) are driven by the loss of the succinate dehydrogenase (SDH) complex, resulting in a pervasive DNA hypermethylation pattern that leads to unique clinical features. Advanced SDH-deficient GISTs are usually treated with the same therapies targeting KIT and PDGFRA receptors as those used in metastatic GIST. However, these treatments display less activity in the absence of alternative therapeutic options.

Strategic Area: Protecting Crops and the Environment, Rothamsted Research, Harpenden, Hertfordshire, United Kingdom.

Filamentous plant pathogenic fungi pose significant threats to global food security, particularly through diseases like Fusarium Head Blight (FHB) and Septoria Tritici Blotch (STB) which affects cereals. With mounting challenges in fungal control and increasing restrictions on fungicide use due to environmental concerns, there is an urgent need for innovative control strategies. Here, we present a comprehensive analysis of the stage-specific infection process of Fusarium graminearum in wheat spikes by generating a dual weighted gene co-expression network (WGCN).

Case-only designs in longitudinal cohorts are a valuable resource for identifying disease-relevant genes, pathways, and novel targets influencing disease progression. This is particularly relevant in Alzheimer's disease (AD), where longitudinal cohorts measure disease "progression," defined by rate of cognitive decline. Few of the identified drug targets for AD have been clinically tractable, and phenotypic heterogeneity is an obstacle to both clinical research and basic science.

Introduction: Placental DNA methylation differences have been associated with timing in gestation and pregnancy complications. Maternal cell-free DNA (cfDNA) partly originates from the placenta and could enable the minimally invasive study of placental DNA methylation dynamics. We will for the first time longitudinally investigate cfDNA methylation during pregnancy by using Methylated DNA Sequencing (MeD-seq), which is compatible with low cfDNA levels and has an extensive genome-wide coverage.
