To assess the US food industry's response to calls from public health authorities to reduce portion sizes by comparing current with past sizes of selected examples of single-serve ultra-processed packaged and fast foods. We obtained manufacturers' information about current portion sizes and compared it with sizes when first introduced and in 2002. Few companies in our sample reduced portion sizes since 2002; all still sold portions of ultra-processed foods in up to 5-times-larger sizes than when first introduced. Policies and practices focused on reducing portion size could help discourage the consumption of excessive amounts of ultra-processed foods. Antibiotic use (ABU) in animals is postulated to be a major contributor to selection of antibiotic resistance (ABR) which subsequently causes infections in human populations. However, there are few quantifications of the size of this association. Denmark, as a country with high levels of pig production and strong ABR surveillance data, is an ideal case study for exploring this association.

Intervertebral disc (IVD) degeneration is suspected to affect the distribution of stress and strain near the vertebral endplates and in the underlying bone. This scenario is worsened by the presence of metastatic lesions on the vertebrae (primarily thoracic vertebrae (60-80%)) which increase the risk of fracture. As such, this study aimed to evaluate the effect of IVD degeneration on the internal volumetric strains and failure modes of human metastatic vertebral bodies.

With the rapid development of blockchain technology, fraudulent activities have significantly increased, posing a major threat to the personal assets of blockchain users. The blockchain transaction network formed during user transactions can be represented as a graph consisting of nodes and edges, making it suitable for a graph data structure. Fraudulent nodes in the transaction network are referred to as anomalous nodes.

Objectives: This study aimed to analyze the associations between dietary polyamine intake and incident T2DM.
Methods: This prospective analysis included 168,137 participants from the UK Biobank who did not have T2DM at baseline. Dietary polyamines were calculated based on portion sizes of food items and a nutrient database.

Food waste (FW) threatens food security, environmental sustainability, and economic efficiency, with about one-third of global food production lost or wasted. Schools play a crucial role in addressing FW, representing lost resources and missed educational opportunities. The present research assessed three interventions to reduce plate waste (PW) in Rezekne City schools, namely (S1) a plate waste tracker, (S2) an awareness and educational campaign, and (S3) organizational changes, including larger plates, extended lunch breaks, and teacher supervision.
