Evaluation of vaccine perceptions in Israel's Elderly: A Comparative study of COVID-19 and influenza vaccination attitudes.

Purpose: This study aimed to evaluate the attitudes of Israeli elderly population towards COVID-19 and influenza vaccines, and to assess factors contributing to these attitudes.
Methods: Four-hundred and one participants exhibiting symptoms consistent with COVID-19 or influenza were enrolled and filled out a questionnaire. A second questionnaire was filled out for hospitalized patients at discharge.
Recruitment and retention in cancer trials are long-standing issues, exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic. The UK National Institute of Health Research and leading clinicians have emphasised the urgency to achieve and surpass prepandemic levels of participation. Data from a recent UK trial demonstrated the impact of COVID-19 and highlighted factors that limited recruitment.

Pickering syndrome, characterized by recurrent episodes of flash pulmonary edema (FPE) and renal impairment, is associated with renal artery stenosis (RAS). This case highlights its manifestation and management in an older adult patient. An 86-year-old woman with hypertension, chronic kidney disease, and a single functioning kidney presented with recurrent FPE episodes.

Background: Therapeutic antibodies for the treatment of neurological disease show great potential, but their applications are rather limited due to limited brain exposure. The most well-studied approach to enhance brain influx of protein therapeutics, is receptor-mediated transcytosis (RMT) by targeting nutrient receptors to shuttle protein therapeutics over the blood-brain barrier (BBB) along with their endogenous cargos. While higher brain exposure is achieved with RMT, the timeframe is short due to rather fast brain clearance.
