Shoulder pain is an extremely common condition. The painful shoulder may be the result of a wide spectrum of underlying pathological conditions, including calcific tendinopathy of the rotator cuff, subacromial-subdeltoid bursitis, acromioclavicular or glenohumeral arthritis, tenosynovitis of the long biceps tendon, rotator cuff lesions, and many other less common conditions. Ultrasound imaging is an effective tool for the diagnosis and also for the image guidance of treatment of the majority of these conditions. Several ultrasound-guided procedures are effective for pain relief, such as percutaneous irrigation, intra-bursal or intra-articular drugs injection, fluid aspiration, neural block. This review article aims to summarize and discuss the most common treatment possibilities with ultrasound guidance for the painful shoulder.

Background: Adhesive capsulitis is a distressing ailment that progressively limits the active and passive mobility of the shoulder joint. Physical therapy (PT) combined with intra-articular steroid (IAS) injection and suprascapular nerve block (SSNB) has shown improved functional outcomes. We aimed to assess whether providing both IAS injection and SSNB improved outcomes compared with IAS injection alone.

Purpose: This study aimed to compare clinical outcomes and re-tear rates of medium-sized rotator cuff tears repaired with incomplete footprint coverage using the transosseous-equivalent technique versus those with complete footprint coverage plus bone marrow stimulation.
Methods: The retrospective study, conducted from March 2019 to December 2021, included consecutive patients with medium-sized (1-3cm) posterosuperior rotator cuff tears repaired using the transosseous-equivalent technique and bone marrow stimulation, with a minimum follow-up of 2 years. Patients were divided into two groups based on the degree of footprint coverage achieved: Group C (complete coverage) and Group I (incomplete coverage).

Background: Sex-differences in pain perception have been documented; however, the role of sex hormones in chronic musculoskeletal pain (CMP) remains unclear. Therefore, this study investigated whether sex hormones and sex hormone-binding globulin (SHBG) are associated with CMP.
Methods: We utilised data from the UK Biobank (n=357 424; females: 51.

Introduction: Chronic shoulder pain caused by a rotator cuff tear is commonly treated with arthroscopic rotator cuff repair surgery (ARCR). However, ARCR may be associated with moderate-to-severe postoperative pain, and poorly controlled pain can result in delayed functional recovery and the development of frozen shoulder. Terminal sensory articular nerve radiofrequency ablation (RFA) has been shown to be clinically effective in patients with severe refractory shoulder pain from multiple etiologies.

Objectives: Determining the prevalence of different shoulder subclassification-based diagnoses using a defined exclusion-type diagnostic algorithm. Analyzing the relationships between cervical contribution and other shoulder diagnoses.
Methods: A proposal of a shoulder pain diagnosis based on functional subclassification was carried out in all subjects.
