Gonococcal (GC) agar supplemented with glucose and glutamine was found to be superior to Eugonagar and Trypticase soy agar in demonstrating the hemin requirement of 23 strains of Haemophilus ducreyi by the satellite growth test. The porphyrin test confirmed the requirement for exogenous hematin. With the agar dilution technique, using supplemented GC agar, the hemin concentration required to initiate growth was 10 microgram/ml, and the optimal hemin concentration to produce growth equivalent to that on chocolate agar was between 200 and 500 microgram/ml. On GC agar with added glucose and glutamine, the lowest hemin concentration impregnated in paper disks able to initiate satellite growth was 50 microgram/ml. The hemin requirements of these H. ducreyi were much higher than that reported for other Haemophilus species.

In the United States (US), neonatal intensive care units (NICUs) monitor and treat newborns for a variety of adverse health concerns including preterm status, respiratory distress and restricted growth. As such, NICU admission is an integrated measure of neonatal risk. We linked 2018 US national birth registry NICU admission data among singleton births with satellite and modelled air pollution levels for the month prior to birth to examine whether late-pregnancy exposure to ambient air pollutants is associated with adverse neonatal health outcomes.

Bone morphogenetic protein (BMP)-3b, also known as growth differentiation factor (GDF)-10, belongs to the transforming growth factor (TGF)-β superfamily. Despite being named a BMP, BMP3b is considered as an intermediate between the TGFβ/activin/myostatin and BMP/GDF subgroups of the TGFβ superfamily. Myoblast differentiation is tightly regulated by various cytokines, including the TGFβ superfamily members.

Water temperature is a vital parameter impacting the growth and survival of aquatic life. Using satellite-derived infrared data, this study analysed the trend of sea surface temperature (SST) from 2008 to 2022 of the Adriatic coastal waters of Italian regions. The "Mediterranean Sea High Resolution and Ultra High Resolution Sea Surface Temperature Analysis" product collected from the Copernicus Marine Service of European Copernicus programme was used, as a good compromise among spatial accuracy, temporal frequency and coverage.

Agriculture 4.0 technologies continue to see low adoption among small and medium-sized farmers, primarily because these solutions often fail to account for the specific challenges of rural areas. In this work, we propose and implement a design methodology to develop a Precision Agriculture solution aimed at assisting farmers in managing water stress in Hass avocado crops.
