Isolation and Characterization of Canine Adipose-Derived Mesenchymal Stromal Cells: Considerations in Translation from Laboratory to Clinic.

Animals (Basel)

Regenerative Medicine and Tissue Engineering, Department of Large Animal Clinical Sciences, College of Veterinary Medicine, University of Tennessee, Knoxville, TN 37996, USA.

In allogeneic MSC implantation, the cells are isolated from a donor different from the recipient. When tested, allogeneic MSCs have several advantages over autologous ones: faster cell growth, sufficient cell concentration, and readily available cells for clinics. To ensure the safe and efficient use of allogeneic MSCs in clinics, the MSCs need to be first tested in vitro.

This study aimed to assess the efficacy of a single intra-articular injection of autologous stromal vascular fraction (SVF) in dogs with chronic lameness due to advanced elbow osteoarthritis (OA) that were unresponsive to conventional drug therapy. In this clinical, prospective, non-blinded, single-center study, twenty-three dogs received autologous SVF derived from falciform adipose tissue. Primary outcome measures over the six-month study period included clinical-orthopedic and radiographic examinations, objective gait analysis and validated owner questionnaires.

Utility of falciform ligament flap for hiatal hernia repair: a systematic review.

Minerva Surg

October 2024

Department of Biomedical Sciences for Health, Division of General and Foregut Surgery, IRCCS San Donato Polyclinic, University of Milan, Milan, Italy -

Introduction: Surgical repair of hiatal hernia (HH) is plagued by high recurrence rates. Hiatoplasty failure has been identified as a major determinant of recurrent symptoms and HH, but there is no consensus on the optimal surgical approach to minimize this complication and hiatal mesh reinforcement remains controversial. The use of the falciform ligament as an autologous rotational flap to support crural repair has been proposed as a potential solution.

Ex vivo resection, vessel reconstruction and liver autotransplantation for cholangiocarcinoma: A report of two cases.

Electronic address:

Purpose: Ex vivo liver resection and autotransplantation (ERAT) can be used to treat locally advanced tumors that are conventionally unresectable. Because the procedure is rare, there are very few reports in the literature. Recently, we performed ERAT for two cases of cholangiocarcinoma invading caudate lobe, the retrohepatic vena cava and hepatic veins, and investigated technical variations of this procedure.

Objective: The aim of the study was to assess lameness in dogs with advanced osteoarthritis of the hip and knee joints after a single autologous point-of-care transplantation of the Stromal Vascular Fraction (SVF) into the affected joint.

Materials And Methods: During a minilaparotomy, 10 g of falciform fat was removed from each patient for each joint to be treated. A modern and time-saving procedure (ARC TM System, InGeneron GmbH, Houston, USA) was used for the in-house preparation of the SVF, so that the isolated cells could be applied to the respective joint within 2 h after fat removal.
