The aim of this perspective paper is to highlight the potential role and value digital scholarship can have in dental education. The use of digital scholarship and alternative metrics for academic assessment, promotion, and tenure is growing rapidly among healthcare scholars and can complement traditional frameworks. The US dental academic institutions might consider expanding the scope of their promotion and tenure guidelines from reliance on publications and grants to a greater appreciation of the impact of the scholar's work in the digital sphere by integrating newer citation indices and altmetrics.

Recent focus has shifted toward refining the soft tissue emergence profile to enhance aesthetics, support peri-implant health, and ensure long-term success. Traditionally, titanium stock healing abutments or chairside-customized abutments were used to shape peri-implant tissues and develop the emergence profile for implant-supported prostheses. However, advancements in digital dentistry now allow for more precise customization and increased treatment efficiency.

All throughout the so-called "Global South", hundreds of millions of individuals from entire communities in the rural, poorer, or most peripheral areas are not officially recorded by the States they are citizens of or they habitually reside in. This is why several of such States are resorting to extensive and purportedly "universal" digital remote onboarding programs, pioneered by India's Aadhaar, whereby individuals are centrally recorded onto a public database with their identity (and possibly citizenship) confirmed. Whenever paper documents are obsolete, inaccurate, deteriorated, or inexistent, individuals may have their identity confirmed through an "introducer", who mediates between marginalised communities and central authorities and is entrusted by both with this delicate task.

Microparticle-templated droplets or dropicles have recently gained interest in the fields of diagnostic immunoassays, single-cell analysis, and digital molecular biology. Amphiphilic particles have been shown to spontaneously capture aqueous droplets within their cavities upon mixing with an immiscible oil phase, where each particle templates a single droplet. Here, an amphiphilic microparticle with four discrete hydrophilic patches embedded at the inner corners of a square-shaped hydrophobic outer ring of the particle (4C particle) is fabricated.

Temporomandibular joint osteoarthritis (TMJOA) is a painful inflammatory condition that limits mouth opening. Cell-derived exosomes, which have anti-inflammatory effects, are emerging as a treatment for TMJOA. Injection of dental pulp stem cells (DPSCs), which secrete exosomes, can moderate tissue damage in a rat model of TMJOA.
