A system based on a novel scheme for generating the repetitive pulsed high magnetic field (RPHMF) is developed and applied to enhance the performance of the NdFeB electrocatalyst in alkaline water electrolysis for the first time. In this system, the scheme for generating continuously high-frequency pulses depends on the cooperation of multiple power modules with a new structure. Multiple power modules are connected in parallel to energize the pulsed magnet, and each module is composed of two capacitor banks and a pulse transformer, which is used to realize the conversion of the energy between the two capacitor banks. As the residual energy in one capacitor is transferred to another, the energy required to be replenished for the next pulse reduces substantially. Then, the high repetition rate of the RPHMF can be achieved by discharging the capacitor banks of each module in sequence. The scheme has been validated by the experiment of a 2.4 T/12 Hz prototype with only one power module. Simulation shows that the frequency of the RPHMF can be improved to 12N Hz with N power modules, and a higher repetition rate of the RPHMF may bring new opportunities to the water electrolysis.

Designing efficient Ruthenium-based catalysts as practical anodes is of critical importance in proton exchange membrane water electrolysis. Here, we develop a self-assembly technique to synthesize 1 nm-thick rutile-structured high-entropy oxides (RuIrFeCoCrO) from naked metal ions assembly and oxidation at air-molten salt interface. The RuIrFeCoCrO requires an overpotential of 185 mV at 10 m A cm and maintains the high activity for over 1000 h in an acidic electrolyte via the adsorption evolution mechanism.

Dye-sensitization is a promising strategy to improve the light absorption and photoactivity abilities of wide-bandgap semiconductors, like TiO. For effective water-splitting photoanodes with no sacrificial agents, the electrochemical potential of the dye must exceed the thermodynamic threshold needed for the oxygen evolution reaction. This study investigates two promising organic cyanoacrylic dyes, designed to meet that criterion by means of theoretical calculations.

The aim of this study was to develop an electrolysis system to produce silver nanoparticles free from toxic gases, as the most common reduction and electrolysis techniques produce nitrogen dioxide (NO) as a byproduct, which is harmful to human health. The new electrolysis system used two identical silver plate electrodes, replacing silver and carbon rods, and used water as the electrolyte instead of silver nitrate (AgNO) solution since AgNO is the source of NO. The electrolytic silver nanoparticles (ESNs) produced by the new system were characterized and compared with reductive silver nanoparticles (RSNs).

Developing nonprecious metal-based electrocatalysts with exceptional activity and durability for water electrolysis remains a significant challenge. Herein, we report a highly efficient bifunctional electrocatalyst composed of sulfur-doped vanadium metal-organic frameworks (S@V-MOF) integrated with multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) to promote the synergistic effect between S@V-MOF and MWCNTs and modulate the electronic structure of the catalyst, which eventually enhanced its electrocatalytic performance. The S@V-MOF/MWCNT catalyst loaded at the Ni foam electrode exhibits remarkable activity for both the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) in acidic media and oxygen evolution reaction (OER) in alkaline media, requiring overpotentials of 48 and 227 mV, respectively, to reach a current density of 10 mA cm.
