Cardiac implantable electronic devices (CIEDs) generate substantial data, often stored in image or PDF formats. Remote monitoring, now an integral component of patient care, places considerable administrative burdens on clinicians and staff, in large part due to the challenge of integrating these data seamlessly into electronic health records. Since 2006, the Heart Rhythm Society, in collaboration with the CIED industry, has led an initiative to establish a unified standard nomenclature.

ShaderNN: A Lightweight and Efficient Inference Engine for Real-time Applications on Mobile GPUs.

Neurocomputing (Amst)

January 2025

Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of Maryland at College Park, 8223 Paint Branch Dr, College Park, MD, 20740, USA.

Inference using deep neural networks on mobile devices has been an active area of research in recent years. The design of a deep learning inference framework targeted for mobile devices needs to consider various factors, such as the limited computational capacity of the devices, low power budget, varied memory access methods, and I/O bus bandwidth governed by the underlying processor's architecture. Furthermore, integrating an inference framework with time-sensitive applications - such as games and video-based software to perform tasks like ray tracing denoising and video processing - introduces the need to minimize data movement between processors and increase data locality in the target processor.

In recent years, Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) have become vital because of their versatility in numerous applications. Nevertheless, the attain problems like inherent noise, and limited node computation capabilities, result in reduced sensor node lifespan as well as enhanced power consumption. To tackle such problems, this study develops a Modified-Distributed Arithmetic-Offset Binary Coding-based Adaptive Finite Impulse Response (MDA-OBC based AFIR) framework.

With mental health concerns on the rise among youth and young adults (age 12-24), increased mental health options include virtual care, apps and online tools, self-management and tracking tools, and digitally-enabled coordination of care. These tools may function as alternatives or adjuncts to face-to-face models of care. Innovative solutions in the form of digital mental health (dMH) services not only provide support, resources and care, but also decrease wait times and waitlists, increase access, and empower youth.

Achievement of one health multi-sectoral collaboration in containment of Rift Valley Fever outbreak, Sudan, Red Sea State 2019.

Eur J Public Health

January 2025

Federal Ministry of Health, Directorate Health Emergencies and Epidemics Control (HEEC), Khartoum, Sudan.

Rift Valley Fever is endemic in Sudan, with a notable outbreak declared in 2019, affecting multiple states. In this study, we examine the Red Sea State, Sudan's experience in applying the One Health approach, to contain Red-Sea RVF outbreak. A retrospective analysis of national and sub-national data and a review of literature were conducted to assess the application of One Health response and to derive lessons learned.
