Structural colors, generated by the interaction of interference, diffraction, and scattering between incident light and periodic nanostructured surfaces with features of the same scale with incident visible light wavelengths, have recently attracted intense interest in a wide range of research fields, due to their advantages such as various brilliant colors, long-term stability and environmental friendliness, low energy consumption, and mysterious biological functions. Tremendous effort has been made to design structural colors and considerable progress has been achieved in the past few decades. However, there are still significant challenges and obstacles, such as durability, portability, compatibility, recyclability, mass production of structural-color materials, , that need to be solved by rational structural design and novel manufacturing strategies. In this review, we summarize the recent progress of bio-inspired structural colors and their applications. First, we introduce several typical natural structural colors displayed by living organisms from fundamental optical phenomena, including interference, diffraction grating, scattering, photonic crystals effects, the combination of different phenomena, Subsequently, we review recent progress in bio-inspired artificial structural colors generated from advanced micro/nanoscale manufacturing strategies to relevant biomimetic approaches, including self-assembly, template methods, phase conversion, magnetron sputtering, atomic layer deposition, Besides, we also present the current and potential applications of structural colors in various fields, such as displays, anti-counterfeiting, wearable electronics, stealth, printing, Finally, we discuss the challenges and future development directions of structural colors, aiming to push forward the research and applications of structural-color materials.

Background: Despite advancements in imaging technologies, including CT scans and MRI, these modalities may still fail to capture intricate details of congenital heart defects accurately. Virtual 3D models have revolutionized the field of pediatric interventional cardiology by providing clinicians with tangible representations of complex anatomical structures. We examined the feasibility and accuracy of utilizing an automated, Artificial Intelligence (AI) driven, cloud-based platform for virtual 3D visualization of complex congenital heart disease obtained from 3D rotational angiography DICOM images.

Defect engineering is an important method to control material properties. In this paper, large-scale sampling density functional theory (DFT) was used to investigate the adsorption and sensing behavior of NH and NO on a WSe monolayer, with a focus on the effect of selenium vacancy concentration. The results demonstrate that selectivity is inhibited on a perfect monolayer due to the similar adsorption energy of the two gases, NH and NO, while selectivity can be obtained for both of them under different selenium vacancy concentrations (NH about 2-5.

The evolutionary success of angiosperms, which make up more than 95 percent of the world's terrestrial flora, is largely based on their interactions with animal pollinators. Indeed, it is estimated that, on average, 87.5 percent of flowering plants are pollinated by animals.

Hydrogel-based patches have demonstrated their values in diabetic wounds repair, particularly those intelligent dressings with continuous repair promoting and monitoring capabilities. Here, we propose a type of dual physiological responsive structural color particles for wound repair. The particles are composed of a hyaluronic acid methacryloyl (HAMA)-sodium alginate (Alg) inverse opal scaffold, filled with oxidized dextran (ODex)/quaternized chitosan (QCS) hydrogel.
