Tire wear particles (TWP) are one of the main sources of microplastic (MP) pollution in the marine environment, causing adverse effects on marine life and attracting increasing attention. This study aimed to investigate the chemical composition of TWP (particles and leachate) and their toxic effects on Brachionus plicatilis. The results showed that Zn and acenaphthene were the most frequently detected compounds in the three TWP treatments.

Background: Numerous studies have investigated the associations between the home literacy environment (HLE) and children's word reading skills. However, these associations may partly reflect shared genetic factors since parents provide both the reading environment and their child's genetic predisposition to reading. Hence, the relationship between the HLE and children's reading is genetically confounded.

This study aimed to identify the central symptoms that bridge adolescents and parental psychopathological symptoms and the specific symptom pathways by using a novel network approach. The perinatal period encompasses a critical window for neurodevelopment that renders the brain highly responsive to experience. Trauma, such as intimate partner violence (IPV) and early life stress/neglect, during this period negatively affects physical and mental health outcomes, including increasing ones risk for chronic pain. Although epigenetic programming likely contributes, the mechanisms that drive the relationship between perinatal trauma and adverse health outcomes, are not fully understood.
